I don't like a type of music so that makes me close-mindedtwo feathers said:Note to all haters: Your close-mindedness is highly evident.

I'd be curious to know what type of music you don't like. Would that make you close minded as well for not liking that type of music?
Me too. A main reason I stopped listening to rap was because of the language. I do not need to hear that stuff. And the lyrics in a rap song are mostly the big thing of the song - the background is just recycled beats...no such thing as a solo... So I got into house/trance and rock, and I like them much much better than rap.onfire4Jesus said:Man, there are a lot of people here who don't like rap....
I'm just getting into rap, but only Christian rap. Any other rap is just filling your head with junk and bad language. I guess the reason I like rap is because it usually has a really good beat. Yes, I know, it isn't all about the music. The lyrics do matter a lot, which is why I listen to Christian rap. Okay, now I'm rambling......

Hope I'm not putting the wrong words in your mouth TF![]()

I don't understand what people mean when they say this. Hip hop is the (ART) CULTURE and encompasses: rap, break dancing, turntablism, and graffiti art. The music is called rap, whether it is "b*tches, guns, and money" or something more meaningful.Sign Of The Fish said:I personally perferr hip hop.
My friend took a course in black music, and he was telling me about how "black" music is largely based on repetition and "white" music based on progression.ps139 said:Me too. Roots Manuva, an english hip-hop artists who raps about cheese on toast and pints of bitter (or bittah as he pronounces it)ps139 said:I agree. And this rap is not helping the struggle of blacks in America. It glorifies violence, sex, drugs and money. There is no sense of humility. Education is not encouraged at all. "Get rich, it doesn't matter how, then you can be like me and do whatever you want" is the main message. Its horrible.
Name some artists, I'd like to hear them. More rap like this is needed.
One reason why I consider Tupac the best rapper of all time is that he actually talked about social issues that need fixing, about the cycle of violence, and there was so much passion in his music. It wasnt all about drugs sex and money. Tupac can be rough but I also find him "intelligent, personal and meaningful" at times.
Err....right.Western Deity said:"Dizzee Rascal is well worth a look"

I assume you're going to be there.Western Deity said:"You want to find some good underground rap. come to Scribble Jam here in Cincnnati."
Swann will eat emcees alive at SJ this year.
You can consider yourself whatever you want. What bothers me is this comment:two feathers said:I like all types of music. Believe you me, I appreciate all styles. And yes, I would consider myself closed-minded if I wrote off an entire genre of music.
