"It Was a Good Day". That song is classic. "Today I didn't even have to use my A.K.I got to say it was a good day"."Today Was A Good Day" is probably his best song.
I don't mind the odd song here and there from some few and far between rap artists that have a wide enough vocabulary that they don't have to cuss every second word or are intelligent enough to write a song that isn't about either sex, drugs, or shooting people, but, hey, such a rap artist is rare.
I guess I like some R&B (not very much though), and I don't mind rap/sung collaborations too much. Other than that, pass, I like me some Pop or Rock.
There are some, ever heard S.E.X( good message in it). Or that some by Mary J. Blige and Ludacris, "Runaway Love." Or "I know I can" by Nas.
Song with good messages. But rock aint all that good either. I have heard song that go"lete the bodies hit the floor, let the bodies hit the floor." or "psycho, groupie, cocaine, groupie, makes you highi, makes you high."
So hey not all music is good and not all is bad.
Word...I don't know why people make such a big deal over rap..I think rock has way more problems because some of it is clearly satanic and evil (Marilyn Manson, etc)
By tha way, is that new Nas CD worth buying?
I was looking through this thread looking for someone to finally say something like this. GOOD ON YOU SIR. Now I like to feel I'm a Christian and have a good relationship with God. I also love rap music. Rap in general has all this baggae of gun crime, drugs, orgies and general unholiness attached to it but that's just a small proportion of the industry. This kind of attitude drives me crazy. Not the fact that you hold it, this isn't any sort of attack on you, but the fact that the rap and hip-hop that gets exposure is exactly the type that you describe. However, artists who write songs about things other than sex, drugs, and shooting people are all over the place, they just don't get radio play or MTV exposure (though Common is in a Gap commercial now)
I might suggest that it's a government conspiracy intended to keep black people subjugated by encouraging them to pursue an inherently self-destructive lifestyle in pursuit of success, but that would probably seem conspiratorial.
Yes, we're obviously posting in this thread because all of us hate rapThis site seriously needs to get a rap/hip hop section...it already has classical, jazz, and country, why no rap? You guys hate it that much, huh?
Actually its probably because the rest of the music genres you mentioned takes talent, and rap does not.
