This tale comes from some out-land church in the middle of a place where Christians are hated and frequent terror attacks occur. A congregation has just started service one weekend when a band of masked gunmen enter the building. They quickly demand every person who wants to save their life to immediately leave the church and go somewhere else if they want to live. A huge file of people get up and rush out of the building at once. The men ask the people two more times if there’s anyone else that wants to leave. Soon, other crowds (albeit smaller) get up and disperse as well. Finally, when there were just a few remnant of people left sitting quietly in their chairs with peace on their faces, the gunmen threw their rifles down and exclaimed, “Now we can worship in spirit and in Truth. Hallelujah.”

Medicine comes from the least likely sources sometimes. Was at the doctor's office the other day, sitting in the room, waiting for the nurse. There was a lady sitting in there too who would break out in random laughs every now and then. It was contagious. Me and another dude ended up laughing too.

But she said to them, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full, and the Lord has brought me home again empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the Lord has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?”

The above passage and the following line of verse 22 is one of my favorite parts of the Bible. Here we had someone in a difficult situation, going thru tremendous trial, even to the point where they would rename themselves “bitter” in their circumstances. But if you keep reading to verse 22 in the text, the Holy Spirit chose to inspire the writer of Ruth to still write her name as Naomi despite what she had called herself. I believe some Christians today are allowing the world and their temporary environments to dictate who their identity is. Some may even be so down in the dumps that, like Naomi, they’ve given themselves new names. But don’t you know that what God has called you will forever be yours in Jesus Christ!? You are more than a conqueror in God. You are are an overcomer by the blood of Jesus and the Word of your testimony. You are loved! Your name is written in the Lamb’s book of life. Rejoice, because nothing will ever separate you from that love of God in our Lord. Amen.

I found a book on Abraham Lincoln at the local used book store the other day, and I was reminded of story that I remembered being attributed to him that went something like this:

One Wednesday evening as Lincoln and a companion walked back to the White House after a midweek church services, the president’s companion asked, “What did you think of tonight’s sermon?”

“Well,” Lincoln responded, “it was brilliantly conceived, biblical, relevant, and well presented.”

“So, it was a great sermon?”

“No,” Lincoln replied. “It failed. It failed because the preacher did not ask us to do something great.”

Point of the story? Inspiring communicators always ask a lot from their listeners.

Well, the dream I had two nights ago was pretty random. It was about my old real-life friend somehow getting trapped in another world and turned into a lizard, and I had to rescue her. For some reason Zero Suit Samus was helping (even though she's not my favorite character anymore). I have NO idea where that came from.

Yeah it kinda does.

I read that the instrument is played by using very precise hand movements to control the pitch and volume of electromagnetic waves, which results in the unique sound it gives. Although, the sound could also come from tiny, outer space aliens hidden in the device. But, I'm no expert on this kind of stuff.
