  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Randomness.

The thread with no topic to stay on topic with. Just randomness. Random is my favorite word too... random huh?

I had the MOST random and vivid dream last night. I have no idea where it came from. But it was so real.

What's going on in your life or is there anything you'd like to put out there that doesn't fit into any other thread?!?!

Random number seeds are interesting. The random number seed determines what all the next random numbers will be. Normally people randomize by the timer on a computer because the time is always different, so your numbers will come out different each time you run the application.

An interesting use for saving random number seeds is if you're generating maps in a 2d video game. If you randomly draw the map, it will always redraw the same based on a single number. The map can be completely huge, but the single number stores it all.

I like randomness too. I come from old school Pencil and Paper Role Playing Games. I abused the systems of all the old games so now I know how to make RPGS of my own that are balanced. The key to effective simulated fantasy is to have the reality seem as real as possible, and only change select parts of it.

For example, I'm making a fighting game, but I still need a 3d player that looks like a human and is affected by physics. I'm a physics minor, but I'm not that great at matrix algebra math so I can't do all the wild effects you can have like rope, not even a good simulation of a world, nor a sky. All I have is a big sqare room where players fight. I think this is where the big game dev houses will have an advantage. They can write their own code that simulates a world, and then reuse it for different games.

I'm up so late because I'm excited about learning about God and plotting ways that I can spread the Gospel. Being a religious zealot can be fun. I have such a hatred of sin that I want to help other people know God exists so further sin is prevented, and if they're a zealtous follower of Jesus, maybe they can help someone else out. I keep imagining a big faith shockwave could be produced under the right circumstances.

I don't know what the circumstances are, but I keep trying the best I can to let people know that God is real, Jesus is Lord.

Romans 10:
13 As the scripture says, "Everyone who calls out to the Lord for help will be saved." R62 14 But how can they call to him for help if they have not believed? And how can they believe if they have not heard the message? And how can they hear if the message is not proclaimed? 15 And how can the message be proclaimed if the messengers are not sent out? As the scripture says, "How wonderful is the coming of messengers who bring good news!"

Great scripture. What translation of the Bible is that?

I heard something cool tonight... God made Adam and saw that mand should not be alone and that Adam needed a helper. God took Adam's rib and created Eve, his helper and mate. God did not take a bone from Adam's foot so she would be below him. God did not take a bone from Adam's head so Adam could rule over her... God took a bone out of Adam's side, so Adam could have someone to be at his side, his equal and help him.

Keri,
It's the Good News translation. I gave away the exact copy that my dad handed to me the day God told me,"Good News.", but I still have a copy. I'm not lessening the impact of other translations. I'm sure they're all good. What I like to say is that scripture is the infalible word of God. I figure if God wanted me to have the Good News translation, he's making a very deep statement that the bible translators have done a good job, and so have all the scribes throughout history.
People have argued for a long time that maybe the Bible was rewritten overtime. And I can argue against that. I mean anyone can argue against that because one of the biggest prophecies is Isaiah 53. In the early 1900's anti-Bible scholars(an oxymoron for sure) agreed it had to have been written after Christ's death. In the 1940's we found the Dead Sea scrolls which dated 100 years earlier than Christ's birth, and in it was a full copy of Isaiah 53. Anti-Bible scholars were totally rattled then. Modern critics of the Bible don't like to hear that one, so it's fun to bring up every so often to remind them of history.
