  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Randomness.

you don't need a passport if you are driving across the border. you will need one regardless staring next year though. i actually LIVE in Indiana. My friend and I drove to Canada last month and didn't have any problems. We just presented our birth certificate and driver's license.

Well I've been to Canada before without a passport... and with out a license since I was only 15 at the time. But what if you are going to be there for a few days to visit relatives? I don't know how far we'd be going in...

If you're DRIVING you won't. If you fly you will. Although, I think GW Bush may have 'relaxed' those rules a bit. Call a travel agent to be sure.

One bit of advice, if you get to go, even if you don't know for SURE how long you'll be there, try to be as specific as possible. Also, try to be specific about WHERE you're going (even if you aren't sure). It seems like the customs ppl are nicer that way and less likely to search you and ask you a gazillion more questions. lol I've been to Canada about 12 times in the last 13 years and haven't really ever had any problems except one time when I drove up there alone and wasn't sure how long I was going to stay. lol I think they must have been afraid I was running away from something. d'oh!

Well I think I will be driving up. The point is to drive my grandparents up there. Because of them not being able to drive so far. (My grandma's from Canada.)

I learned all about procrastination in 9th grade. Or at least that was when I learned what the word meant. I did a presentation on it, but I procrastinated, so it ended up as basically nothing, and I didn't know what I was doing, so I got an F on it. :)

How do you suppose the term "raining cats and dogs" originated?
Hahaha That is kind'a interesting....

From http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/49196:
The term, "raining cats and dogs" comes from the days when people lived in huts with thatched roofs. Small domestic animala would often crawl under the thatch to keep warm and dry. Having animals in the thatch was OK, but when it rained, the thatch would get slippery and all the animals would fall out, raining cats and dogs onto the ground around the hut.
