• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was thinking of this:

"If you think Jesus' blood cannot cover your sins, that may be blasphemous. It's like saying Jesus is not good enough, that is wrong."

Then I accidentally thought of Jesus' sin. But Jesus can never sin! He is perfect.

When I was trying to correct myself, I had a thought about blasphemy and The Holy Spirit.

Is there something I did wrong?

Thanks for the responses.

A while ago, I was about to type a message to my friend about how I did not care about a political party; however, as soon as I realized that party had some Christian values (or so I think), I decided to delete my message and not send it.

Is what I did correct or wrong?

Let me ask you a question, Do you have this belief or obsession that if you do something wrong or think something offensive, God will send you to Hell>?

I cant begin to tell you how long I suffered from the same thing you do.

I thought to myself hey if I do this wrong or If I think this wrong God will condemn me. It took me a long time to get out of that. In fact it led me into the trap of Legalism which is not where you want.

What should I do then?

Just a few minutes ago I was reading something for my homework. I found an answer for a question, but it used to the word 'possess'. Then I thought of something bad and tried to counter it with something good, but not sure if what I did was right. I still answered the question, but I did not use the word 'possess' in my homework.

Thats normal OCD tendancies. You need to practice exposure and response. You need to "just let it be". We need to focus on not countering our thoughts with something else. Because that will just give power to the OCD. and it will just keep it on this neverending cycle :o

what bothers me is the orignal post. not to say this dont but now we are on a whole different episode :)

In your orignal post it sounds like you have this fear deep down inside you. The thing is it can fuel and cause you these blasphemies.

So my question is Do you have this belief or obsession that if you do something wrong or think something offensive, God will send you to Hell?

When people have OCD it is very important to be very aware of that fear inside of you. whiether its germs all the way down to reguarding religion. Which seems to be your problem.

Its easy for someone to be in a certain level of deniel of that fear and that makes it harder to conquor it.

When I was blaspheming the Holy Spirit or I should say saying blasphemies about the Holy Spirit. I had this sudden horrid scary fear. and it caused me problems for years. I overcame it by cutting the root of the problem. and that was my fear. Do I still hear blasphemies sure..sometimes..My OCD is dorment but i can "shake it off" there is no fear for the OCD to what we call latch onto. Because thats what OCD does. It will latch onto fear and anxiety.
