CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Read the verse in it's context. Jesus is saying seek to be saved, seek to enter the Kingdom of God and become His child. You need His righteousness that is available through Jesus Christ to be saved. Repent of your sins and turn to God and put your faith in His Son as your Lord and Savior. As our Heavenly Father, He promises to provide for what we need as His children. After salvation, we continue to seek fellowship with God in prayer, in the word and in obedience, and He will answer our prayers accordingly.

Good thoughts, Chris. Wanderer, one should go into their "closet" (Matt. 6:6) and speak to God "in secret", and tell Him you want to be faithful, receive His Son --the Lord Jesus Christ, and ask Him earnestly to make it good to your heart. You will then be ushered into the Kingdom of God by the indwelling Holy Spirit. God says: "ye shall seek Me and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart" (Jer. 29:13).

Actually, in context, the verse is not speaking about salvation but about not being concerned with material/physical needs because God has promised to see to these things as one "seeks first" His kingdom.
Matthew 6:25-34
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take you thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek
for your heavenly Father knoweth that you have need of all these things.

In other words, to seek is to talk to God, read his word and be obedient. Everything else will follow.

No, not really. Seeking God's kingdom is not the same as seeking God Himself. One does not seek God's kingdom until one has "found" God. Prayer, Bible reading, and following God's commands all are the result of being in a personal relationship with Him; doing these things without that relationship is simply going through the motions, a ritualistic piety that Christ frequently condemned.
The disciples sought God's kingdom by doing as Christ commanded them to do. They preached the gospel, baptized new converts, and made them disciples of Christ. They lived holy, Christ-centered lives, always keeping in view the eternal, heavenly destiny toward which their lives were lived.
One seeks God's kingdom because one has already found God.

You are on the right track. Seeking Jesus and His righteousness is learning what He did for you on the cross. A great way to receive this is by going to church to hear more about Jesus. Read the bible to see more of Jesus. Know that everything has been done for you. Whether you read your bible every day or not, pray everyday or not... know that you will always be the righteousness of God. All of your sins are forgiven past present and future. The more you see the love of God the more you fall in love with Him.
Get some great teaching about the grace message. I can recommend only what I know. Teaching by Joseph Prince is great, his books destined to reign and unmerited favor are a must have for the new covenant believer which you are.

I do hope that I'm on the right track. I've been through what I think is repentence, acceptance and seeking but the spark is missing in the relationship which I think I have with Jesus. Makes me wonder if I'm guilty of ritualistic piety. I suppose I should try asking for the spark and God will take the next step.

Jesus spoke those words urging us to get our priorities straight.
Scripture describes the Kingdom of God as being - ...not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. <---> Romans 14:17
Evidently, to seek and find God's Kingdom, we need The Gift of The Holy Spirit.
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? <-----> Luke 11:9-13 ( Words of Jesus )
Of course believing in Jesus is also essential: for He Is The One Who made this known and available to us !
Therefore, seeking God's Kingdom involves -
1. Shifting our attention away from the material world unto the spiritual realm.
2. Beholding and believing The Testimony of Jesus.
3. Asking our Heavenly Father for The Gift of The Holy Spirit, (so that we may experience His Kingdom's righteousness, peace, and joy).
