  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Most things in my life are broken into increments of three. When people talk to me - to the extent that I can keep up - I break the number of letters in words into divisions of three (for example, "eight" is 1 2/3rds, "computer" is 2 2/3rds, etc).. I type with 3 fingers on each hand, yet type 120 wpm accurately. When walking I count steps in increments of three - and whenever possible without taking too egregiously long or short a step - try to land each third step on the division line of each sidewalk paver.

I can eat a full-sized bag of Doritos in less then 20 minutes. The big, party size. Without a problem. Maybe even two. And I'm a size 6.

All I had to do is read your post and imagine myself doing that - and I put on 8 lbs! lol

LoL! I'd gain weight, but I wouldn't eat for like 2 days because I'd feel too gross too. Honestly, I have no business weighing what I do. I'm trying to lose some weight, but with the way I eat... I should weigh more.

I'm physically handicapped, born with no fingers on either hand - which is thankfully, NOT genetic. Both sibs are fully formed as is my little one *whooo!*
I wouldn't want anyone to go through the crud I had to growing up.

Niffer - I had no idea. You may have mentioned it before but I never remembered and your positive outlook on life and stories of what you do would never lead me to think that might be the case.

Reminds me of another friend, let's call him "Mark". Mark was born with his right arm basically a club - short minimal forearm and only two fingers. He has never let it slow him down. Does woodworking, plays golf very well, etc. So much so that when I was trying to describe him to someone who I thought knew him I went through height, hair color and style, interests, all the usual stuff. Then, after several minutes of trying to figure out if they knew him, I finally remembered the handicap. It just wasn't the thing about Mark that made the most impression.

I have to admire people like you two.

Lol! That's awesome! :D
People tend to forget, (or not notice right away) and I always find that pretty funny!
Especially when good friends give me things like gloves, or ask me to take a sign-language class with them! :D It can be pretty hilarious.

Here's me feeding Eloise when she was littler. I do everything with both hands (naturally) and find prosthetics amazingly annoying, so don't bother.
I drive, write, draw, type but am still learning how to put a diaper on a squirming toddler (my biggest learning curve yet! ;) ) But when you're born this way, you just adapt.
I'm in constant amazement of humans and our abilities to overcome.

Wow, I had no idea Niffer. You honestly almost do not notice. Love those bracelets!! (I have some similar somewhere hanging around here. I had to quit wearing them when I got sick again) And what a nifty idea to do a wedding band bracelet.

I'm a big Weird Al Fan. Like, ever since MTV first came out. And yes, I am in my early 30s.

Another random fact: I live about an hour and 20 minutes where my German ancestors on my dad's side of the family came from.

That is so cool! I visited Germany a few years back and loved it! My Mum's side is german, but the part they were from is now Poland, so unfortunately I didn't get a chance to visit it.
I honestly didn't want to leave - I was in Klon, Warsburg(sp?) and landed in Frankfurt.
I told my family that I missed them, but didn't want to come home. ;) They should all come to me! Lol!

Peace,
- Niffer

LOL! I told mine something like that too "Do you realise how much less expensive it is for me to send you a ticket, than to buy 4 plane tickets for four individuals round trip with 3 stops? I will buy you a ticket. You can legally stay up to 3 months and no more. Come visit me!!"

The last time I came to visit before we made everything official, I was begging DH "Please don't make me leave, it's too pretty, I've only been here two weeks!!"

Random fact: I do not have a favorite color. I have several I prefer, but no one that I always pick.

Hey Niffer, my sister's foot is similar to your hands... she basically just has a heel and wears a prosthetic. It didn't slow her down much either!

I also have German roots!! Both my parents speak German, I never picked it up!! My first husband and his whole family spoke fluent German. I went to Berlin when I was 19; loved it!!! I've always wanted to go back... someday!

Random fact: I have my grade 8 piano, have a piano sitting in my living room, and never play it! I love music, but am not naturally musical despite all my training. Now I get to listen to my son who has no training, but is naturally talented. He plays better than I do!!
