anyone know from where this name came from ? i need to know how this name came into existance..

the reason why i asked this because i have an hindu friend who always argue that there is a relationship between his God which he call him ram and the Arabic name fo God which is Allah.

so any comments or information will be highly appreciated.

Means God's Hill apparently. Ram=place and allah =God

Isn't Jesus suppose to be a Prophet in Islam? Just one more question, our Christian's and Jews called "People of the Book" in Islam? If so, why is Osama Bin Laden and many other Infidels attacking the American Nation?

I suggest you take this topic to a thread more closely related to this subject. Incidentally, such a thread would not be located on this forum. This is a forum for historical discussion, not for harassing Muslims about what certain other Muslims may be up to.

Yes Jesus Christ peace be upon him is one of the mightiest messengers of God, we believe that he was the Christ, and that he give life to the dead by God's permission and heal those who born blind and the lepers by God's permission, in short no Muslim is a Muslim if he does not believe in Jesus. and yes the Jews and Christians are called people of the Book in the Qur'an.

regarding Osama bin laden or anyone who attack any innocent people, its not Islamic teaching, Islam is teaching ONLY PEACE. i know that some people are killing and fighting in the name of religion., but Islam have nothing to do with that. in certain cases we are allowed to defend our faith but not to attack.

Hi, As several have already pointed out, Ramallah means the Hill of God. Have been there many times, a beautiful place, quite peaceful and friendly when there isnt a fracas going on.
