  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well . . . here's the big screen promo:

Ragamuffin – The MovieHome | Ragamuffin - The Movie

It's basically being promoted through churches.

It looks like no Catholic ministries have signed up
yet to host the movie. That strikes me as somewhat odd.
Rich had a big heart for believers of all stripes.

Thanks to all of you for posting. Back when I was newly saved, I had the Songs cd and sent it to someone who didn't have any music, not because I didn't love it, but because I did. This thread has helped me realize how much that music helped me. I'm heading over to Amazon and another copy.

And I'm so glad to know about the movie.

Glad you dropped by, Miss-A. Hope you get to see the movie in your area, before the DVD comes out. "Songs": is that a superb album or what?! I got it recently, and I was floored by how deep it is.

Honestly, though, the "Jesus Record" devastated me in a conviction kind of way. Like it launches from Songs to an even higher yet more earthy level of spirituality in Christ. If you're interested in my Amazon review of that album, go to the more recent reviews. I'm the reviewer, "Ragamuser", of course:)

I am so impressed about what I am seeing at the Facebook page about the "Ragamuffin" movie. The ministry that is travelling around the U.S. to show the movie is even going to Australia.

Blessings,

Quaz

I saw "Ragamuffin" last Sunday night at The Mount Church in Clemson, SC.

The only other movies where I left just as quiet were Gibson's Passion, Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan.

This is a dark movie. Not in the bad sense. It is as if Rich were a weeping prophet who incorporates the grief of follower's of Jesus who see their own shortcomings, the shortcomings of the Church as an "Institution" and wonders aloud, "Does God really love me--us?" It is, in short, heart-wrenching.

Don't take a pre-teen with the idea that this is about a happy-go-lucky Saint Francis having a feel good time.

By all means, see the movie . . . and rejoice in the evolving message of Abba's unreserved love for us--ragamuffins. But be prepared to be unsettled.

The final message is not simply that Rich got to go Home for full reconciliation. For those still here, it is about the challenge to leave authentic lives of trust in the Lord--in midst of pain--being glad that God loves us.
