Racing Pigeon?

Well, yesterday I decided to play helper to a flightless bird that was being tormented by boys. The poor thing can only fly for short distances, and I don't know whether or not it is because it's wings could possibly have been clipped. Anywho, I caught this bird and brought it into my home, but now I don't know what to do with it. lol I asked someone, and they said that it looked like a racing pigeon, not that I had ever heard of anything like that. It is very obviously a domesticated bird, judging by it's gentle manner and it's leg band. What on earth do I do with it though? I'm not opposed to having a bird. I have two as it is. Still, I have no experience with pigeons. lol

Well, Bravo for doing that.

I've had owls fall in my pool before and the shelter would come out and take it. They typically told me that they would try to nurse it back and let it go.

I hope that is what they did.

If you think the bird has been domesticated, and you don't think you'll be able to find out where it came from, I would ask your vet or local wildlife center for advice on how to care for it.
