I have been aware of how the UK defines demographics for quite some time. The UK is a bit more tolerant of terms which mainstream Americans cringe at. The categories listed here aren't cringe worthy to me.

Which one? Every state and every large city handles this subject differently.

We have no "codes;" and even the US Census conducted at the start of every decade changes the list of ethnicities every time they put out a new form.

We have this strange system where on one hand they try to be blind to ethnicity and on the other there is affirmative action which is supposed to be a hand-up for ethnicities who have borne the brunt of past discrimination.
