Quiting by hypnosis evil?

I stopped smoking like 7 years ago due to group hynopsis. IMO...it was the best 50 dollar investment I had ever made when you consider the ridiculous cost of smokes, and the fact that non smokers keep pushing the smokers into a corner and we were not allowed to smoke anywhere besides our own homes and cars.

I was not a Christian at the time and was willing to try anything..just so happened it worked. However, later some people told me that hypnosis is evil, etc, etc.

Has anyone else here tried it? Do you hink it is evil?

The problem is, most people aren't going to notice what "harm" comes to them becuz it's usually very subtle and it's not right away.
Opening up a doorway into influencing or attacking you thru Satan's territory is just that, an open doorway.
It doesn't mean your head starts spinning around & you're barfing up pea soup when the session is over.

the problems usually start later on when you aren't focusing or looking for trouble from something you did earlier.
Satan is not stupid and he's had thousands of years to work on perfecting attacks and wiping out Christians.

And then, define harm. Alot of it that comes is spiritual and you don't notice it or how it's working as an attack.
It can come as a simple doubt about God - are you going to relate that to a hypnosis session you had last year? NO. Nobody would. But the door was opened back then & he's now going to use it.

And that's not to say a genuine Christian will turn into an atheist either - it could be just added spiritual attacks or keeping the relationship with God less than intimate & close like it once used to be, etc. etc. It can be alot of things.

You can't define harm so easily as if your house burns down a week later, or you get a serious disease - alot of it is subtle that you don't even attribute to the original incident.

Being hypnotized, is psycological, not spiritual. Hypnosis is a sleep like trance in which your mind is subceptable to suggestion. It's not a means with which to allow the devil into your mind and infect your soul. Making you the unluckiest person alive.

They had a cure for that, it's called trepanning. If you're not sure what that is, look it up. It's what happens when spiritual beleifs interfere with medical science.

Then I suppose spiritual beliefs balance medical advancement out when wars are fought in their name.

Doesn't this sound a tad familliar? Would you not say your pasteur had a significant amount of influence as he stands on that pedestal every Sunday morning to crowds of half-asleep attendees?

Well judging by your faith icon, I don't expect you to understand spirituality issues like a Christian would, so mockery doesn't cut it with me.

the rest is just typical ridicule & mockery that I don't feel is worth even continuing with.
You won't be able to teach me about Christianity or spirituality with the attitude you display here either.
& Frankly I don't care what you think, I know people who have converted from using these methods and they do attest to it not being of God and that it is a spiritual matter. It is not medical, it's mental with your mind blanked out for someone else to take over.

Blanking out the mind is NOT a Christian principle and the bible says to do just the opposite; GUARD YOUR MIND & HEART; any meditation done is to be "ON" God's word and "ON" HiS truths, not freeing it up to be infiltrated by anything or anyone else.
So it's not biblical AND shouldn't be recommended.

And lots of wrong things "work" - a lie can work to fix a situation for you, it doesn't make lying right.
Hurting someone's feelings can work to your advantage, but still isn't right. Stealing can work to fix a financial problem or get you what you need/want but it doesnt' make it right or good, etc. etc.
Same with many other things.

So quitting smoking can be 'fixed' by hypnotism, but it doesn't make it good just becuz it worked. As far as I'm concerned, you simply exchange problems (or run a high risk of it and it may not be worth it).

(& for anyone wondering, I have quit smoking and haven't smoked for about 8 years now).

Seems you fail to see the points and arguments that the mockery is intricately woven from.

Allow me to highlight some.

Y'know, people really go out of their way to avoid getting it. Hypnosis can be used for good. Scared of dogs and like walking in the park? No problem, hypnosis can help. Ongoing pain? No problem, hypnosis can help. Which brings us on to the next point.

"Being hypnotized... ...interfere with medical science." Your mentality is part of your health. Your health is a medical matter. Would you not say psycho therapists and psychiatrists were attributed to the medical proffession? It's psycological, not spiritual.

Trepanning involves drilling holes iun the patient's head to releive pain caused by infiltration of demons or evil spirts, allowing them to escape through the top of the skull. It's this kind of reasoning that hinders medical science.

However. "Then I suppose spiritual beliefs balance medical advancement out when wars are fought in their name." refers to the high level of medical advancement that comes with war. Considering many wars have been fought over religious and spiritual beleifs, they're an indirect cause of these medical advancements.

The edit refers to how Christians seem to be in a trance like state when glaring up at the pasteur on an early Sunday morning, when they're half asleep. Whilst they're like this, the pasteur speaks to them charismatically and with strong powers of suggestion and have a heavy influence on how people think. Would you not say that by definition, this is mass-hypnosis?

I said what I said and the points offered stand - this is common knowledge in spiritual warfare within Christianity and it's covered alot in other websites that deal with this type of thing regarding doorways and new agism/spirit guides.

You don't change my mind one bit and the continued excuses to support the use of ridicule & mockery only confirm the reason I refuse to continue w/ you.
I'm not interested in sharing information w/ people who can't even discuss a topic with someone new in a civil manner for the first time. In my past, this type of reply typically relayed someone who argued as a sheer hobby for the sake of arguing. I've debated for over 10 years and know this drill all too well.

All the points I included were valid, I believe I put them across clearly and they're structured. You seem to have difficulty admiting that because they conflict with yours, so you just refuse to continue in the hope that it'll be taken as a valid argument. It's not.

I would suggest sticking with the SCIENCE behind what works and what does not.

Plus, is it not a blessing from our Lord if our Brother in Christ here was healed of him smoking habit through this method?

I am both a very conservative Christian and a hypnotist. For the past seven years I served as a full-time minister and have been a hypnotist for 12 years. I am now working on my PhD in Educational Psychology, but continue to be very active in the church. In fact, most of the entertainment shows that I do are for churches.

To claim that hypnosis is somehow satanic or demonic is to fail to understand both hypnotism and the Scriptures. God is the one who has blessed us with this ability to use introspection for positive change, which is the heart and soul of hypnotic therapy. Historically, hypnotism has been given formal approval by the Roman Catholic Church as well as the British Medical Association, American Medical Association, and the American Psychological Association. There are only two religious groups that I know of that formally oppose hypnosis. They both use a tremendous amount of hypnotic techniques in their worship and practice, and one was founded by a practicing hypnotist! Perhaps they just didn't want their followers to know about the techniques they were using with them?!?

I will be happy to answer any legitimate questions about hypnosis or its integration with Christianity.
