Our cat has a number of interesting habits.

For instance when somebody she likes comes into the room and she is feeling at ease she will generally give them a paw stretch. Sometimes she will even give them the double honour of a double paw stretch.

Other times when someone goes to toilet she will be desperate to see what her human friends have produced. Having inspected she will walk away happy with tail in the air.

Other times she will suddenly shake her head - (we#ve checked she does not have ticks).

When people come round with whom we are at ease she will generally perform for their and our attention with various somersaults and supersonic scurryings around the room , with rolls on the carpet and showing off her tummy. Also she has a habit of clinging sideways to the bottom stair and then suddenly reverseing round and then running up and down the stairs every fast.

Could you explain any of these things or do your cats have similar strange or interesting habits?

Ringo loves to knock things off to watch them fall. I don't like that, but he's quite happy doing it. We babysat a Dashhound puppy last night which was 1/4 the size of Ringo. He was angry, yet terrified of it. I laughed till I cried. His pupils were the size of quarters, and his tail was frizzed out and he was hiding.....over this stupid, silly TINY little dog! He finally went to his litter box and just sat there.....holding court? I don't know. For some reason he felt the need to protect his bathroom, if nothing else.

Our old cat doesn't do this anymore--too old I guess. But she used to just get up abruptly and run wildly to one corner of the house, then stop and turn and run back the other direction. She'd do that a couple time in a row, then just sit there...and go back to sleep or whatever.

I've had many cats over the years, and they all seem to share a few odd habits. The first is what I call spaz attacks where the cat will for no apparent reason suddenly run from one stop to another. Nothing seems to cause it and there's no warning. Just suddenly out of the blue there will be a ball of fur flying by my feet.

Another odd thing I've seen is when a cat will see a bird and will make these weird chirping noises... I can imitate the sound the cat makes but can't type it out... it's sort of a cackling chirp I guess. ^_^

When I get home my cat Aeon will be waiting for me in the hallway. As soon as I take my coat off he'll dart into the bathroom and meow really loudly... waiting for me to turn the bathtub faucet on. I guess he sees the tub's faucet as a stream and he imagines himself as a wild cat. ^_^

I've caught my other cat, Mulutka, pouncing all over my bed for long periods of time. I think she's pouncing on the creases of the blanket-- pretending that they're prey (cat's have such an imagination!)

OUr other younger cat likes to jump into the shower as soon as you turn it off, and licks water off the bottom:sick:. And if you leave the toilet seat up you can find dirty little footprints in and around the bowl:sick:

My cat Aeon does this too. I agree--> Don't they taste residue of shampoo and conditioner??? I've caught him trying to do this even after I just washed my hair dye out (no, I don't let him drink then).

One time he even tried to drink out of the toilet while I was cutting my hair and throwing the ends into the tank! (yes, I've been nagged already about how hair cloggs up the toliet: I don't do this anymore! :) I actually have to keep the toliet lid down at all times too--> but I know one day Aeon will figure out how to lift the lid himself! LOL That will be the day I'll potty train him!!! )

We have a water-loving cat, too. Bosco will actually follow us around, meowing at us, until we get a clue and turn the faucet on for him.

He also likes to sleep under the covers with me--I sleep on my side, so he curls up with his back against my stomach. It's very cozy, but my husband gets a little jealous when he wants to snuggle! :D

It didn't matter what I was reading (book, newspaper, map or whatever), Indo would plop down on it, thus stopping me from reading it (especially if I was reading it on the floor). It was the wierdest thing. First, she would come over to see what I was looking at. Then, she would start staring at it (as if she could read it) and then start sniffing it. Then, without fail, she would walk on top of it a stretch out, and star back at me. :D

I really miss her.
