So, on the Sabbath you don't mind the mods working to tell posters "Don't debate" but you don't want them working to tell posters "Don't flame." Can you help me with that logic? At the very least it should cut down the quanitity, right? And gives the mods a rule to point out if someone starts a clear debate on one of these days, or it will slow people from responding to it.
If it's worded right it could be practical, considering SDA's all keep the Sabbath (logically, anyway..considering the name). I think the key will not be aiming it at "Mods get the day off" as much as wording it more towards a guideline of no debate on the Sabbath for the members and mods.

Reddogs, nobody prevents the mods from "doing nothing." Reports don't have to be made the same day the offence is made of noted. The most you can ask is that no reports me made on the Sabbath. Asking for no debate is illogical. Adventists debate on the Sabbath offline so why should it be disallowed online.
What are you talking about? If no one posts how can you come in here to share and fellowship?I cant say two words without you posting as it is now, multiply that by everyone you have in one day and there isnt much chance a mod could come in on Sabbath even to share or fellowship....
see... and you thought I was bad......I cant say two words without you posting as it is now, multiply that by everyone you have in one day and there isnt much chance a mod could come in on Sabbath even to share or fellowship....

Thats what I am talking about, cutting the quantity and a sticky with the rule to refer to and it lets everyone know that its the mods Sabbath also. I dont think that is too much to ask, so we could make the proposal as follows:
A 'sticky' telling everyone Sabbath is a Quiet Time. This is defined as "A time of no debate on the Sabbath so 'mod's' can have their Sabbath and can join in and fellowship with no moderator duties. Moderators would still be available after the Sabbath, to take care of reports and any issues needing a moderator."
Note:The proposal can be amended as needed as long as everyone understands that 'mods' also need their Sabbath and allow for it.
see... and you thought I was bad......
What you are missing is that this is not about a choice between flaming and debating. This is about a choice between the mods working and not working. You still don't mind them working. If there's a rule about not debating on the Sabbath specifically it makes it much different than a simple no flame rule which is valid for any day. Debating is not the same as flaming.
how about this one....What you are missing is that this is not about a choice between flaming and debating. This is about a choice between the mods working and not working. You still don't mind them working.
The man left and told the leaders that Jesus was the one who had healed him. (16) They started making a lot of trouble for Jesus because he did things like this on the Sabbath. (17) But Jesus said, "My Father has never stopped working, and that is why I keep on working." (18) Now the leaders wanted to kill Jesus for two reasons. First, he had broken the law of the Sabbath. But even worse, he had said that God was his Father, which made him equal with God.
This discussion is sad but funny at the same time. It's fascinating to see virtually every discussion involving the Sabbath ultimately ends up in legalism and it's attributed to what God would 'want'. It's 'OK' if others 'work' as long as 'I' get my 'legal' break. This discussion isn't about Jesus and he is not being lifted up here.how about this one....
John 5:15-18
So if God works on the sabbath, and Jesus worked on the sabbath, and Jesus is the example as some here have suggested, then the moderators should work on the sabbath....
it is funny and I posted the text because of the work issue....This discussion is sad but funny at the same time. Yes, an inconvenient text that shows God and Jesus having 'worked' every day down through all the ages. We would do well to make God/Jesus/Holy Spirit the focus, rather than spending our time developing a legal description of what is and isn't 'appropriate' to post about one day a week. It's always appropriate to worship God and focus on Him.it is funny and I posted the text because of the work issue....
and it is always appropriate to do good work on the sabbath... as for the text being inconvenient, not sure what you mean by that....Yes, an inconvenient text that shows God and Jesus having 'worked' every day down through all the ages. isn't work, work?Keep in mind that I'm also talking in a first person kind of situation, being that I'm hoping to go up for election to be a mod if a few things in my offline life allow it. These are things I beleive would be benefitial from that point of view.
Is it not lawful for a Pastor or church staff to work on the Sabbath? This is the same kind of work that God and Jesus did..ministering. The mod work that's being addressed here does not fit into ministering, it's work.
