They are like little sponge cakes.. make on a cookie sheet.. with cherry filling in each square.. the batter bakes up around them.. looks like you worked really hard.. but they are SOOO easy.. *smile* and yummy!

That sounds even better than what I was picturing. I was thinking those little squares with kind of a chewy crust on the bottom, topped with cherry pie filling and crumbles on the top.

That sounds great too.. these are sprinkled with powdered sugar.. and cut into the squares.. super easy to make.. from an old church recipe book.. those ladies really knew how to bake..
