It's a good reflection you have there, Dawn, and I could not agree more. I know some people ''measure'' people from whether they show the Fruits of the Spirit or not, but I think we should not ''measure'' or judge that either without measuring ourselves first. Something about ''throwing the first stone, if you are clean'', and I think there won't be much stone throwing, if we are honest and allow the Holy Spirit to convict us of our sin. What we should do is encourage each other to live in the light, as JESUS is the Light. Well ... maybe the Fab 40s is not the forum for deep reflections, but there are times when it is nicer to talk with people about things like that whom you know a bit from a ''kind'' side, as there needs to be some trust and understanding in order to discuss things that are a bit sensitive or difficult. Thanks for your response, dear Dawn. We can just let this thread die of natural causes, if people simply do not like or want to reflect together with friends. That's ok to me.

Don't let this thread or others like it die. I'd like it too but wasn't sure if it was ok to ask serious questions cos of the forum rules and what else was in fab 40's. I'm the nervous type who doesn't want to get into trouble!!

I love what you said here, Norway. Our judging has to be looking at ourselves first to see what's going on in OUR hearts. Our trusting each other can only go as far as we're willing to 'allow' another person to see us for who we really are. We've all put up 'false fronts'. I think this is more a protective mechanism than anything else. We've all been hurt by other's 'perceptions' of us. Doesn't that make us want to give others the 'benefit of the doubt' after we know how that judging of US made us feel? Complicated thoughts, but, like Dawn said, too, we need to go a little deeper.

I agree, Deb.

My intention was not to deal with very difficult and complex issues or personal traumas, as that should not necessarily be dealt with in the Fab 40s. It was more like wanting to have a thread going where we could talk about more general stuff in a way that is edifying and maybe even thought provoking, and in an environment where people's intention is not to always be right, but rather a safe place for friends to discuss in a respectful way, and not like they do in some other forums, where they attack each other verbally.

Games seems to be the most popular threads in the Fab 40s. That is also nice.

I went to the thread that Dawn recommended, just to take a look. It was pretty serious indeed.

It seems like the Fab 40s is just for lighter stuff, and that is ok with me, if people prefer that.
It is for whatever we (you) want. A good healthy mix is great. If people gravitate to wards one or the other, they will find the threads they like.

Did you notice, too, that the saying is true that "hurting people, hurt people"? People aren't just usually mean for no reason. There are usually reasons for their actions. There have been so many times when I've been deeply hurt by someone and the Lord has made me step back and pray about what's really going on in their lives.

And reaping what we sow. That's a hard one to swallow sometimes. What have I, myself done, to maybe cause some problem to occur in my life. It may not always be the case, but I want to become much more sensitive to the Holy Spirit's nudging me if I have been the cause of a problem.

''Seek and yea shall find.'' If we become more sensitive to the Holy Spirit in our daily walk with the Lord, we will ''see'' much more of what is really going on ''between the lines'' or where issues have their roots, if you want. It is not always pleasant, but He is merciful and gives us space and time. We all carry much ''luggage'' from our past, and the Holy Spirit is kind and considerate enough to disclose the truth to us often by letting us take very small steps together with Him, as the whole truth may be way too shocking for us to see and deal with right away. Hurts from our past have participated in forming us to become the persons we are and the way we understand and treat others. We learn as we go, all the time. If we live in the light with Jesus, as He is Light, He truly will help us to live our lives in daily forgiveness; both asking for forgiveness and giving forgiveness. Forgiveness is one of the hard ones for us to deal with. Those who are forgiven much, love much. Forgiveness is an act of will.

I am tired now and my brain is working on ''slow''.

I love this, Norway. You have such a gentle, kind spirit (well, ok, MOST of the time :) ). I am just blessed by what you've written here.
