No I became Christian after assessing my veiws on life with reason and philosophy, to say that "I" am 100% cirtain there is a God and "I" am 100% cirtain that that God is the one we see in the Bible is an act of faith, I am 100% cirtain in my heart, but my mind dissagrees, I have always followed my heart so I am Christian, however to say that "IT" or "YOU CAN BE" 100% cirtain of anything is an imposibility. Do you understand?

Also do no assume that all Christians belive the same thing, or are even sure of anything, as a Christian I belive that Jesus is my saviour and that I am filled with the holy spirit, but I do not belive that Christianity is the only path to heaven, nor do I assume I have got everything right. But I can say without a doubt that my heart knows 100% that there is a God

Geeze man your life must realy suck!

Mabey you should find something to belive in even if its just to help your emotional well being, you can argue with me till the cows come come but those who are religious do "tend" to like themselves a bit more.
Haha, it doesn't really; it's completely mediocre in every respect. Just more bad than good, which I think is the case with most people's lives.

Even if I did care about myself enough to be religious, I don't think I could actually convince myself of anything; it'd be completely artificial.

Fair enough, but realise that faith is not convincing your self of anything, its tottally different, if anything God convinces you, I think this is something that atheists dont understand.

At your age I was an atheist too, so just do me one favour, dont try and belive, keep your mind open and study philosophy, dont let any one thing cloud your judgement, not religion or science, if you want to know what you truely belive you have to be truely open to everything, and at the same time accept that you know nothing.

Guess that was more than one favour but there we go

what the atheists thoughts about death ? do you fear from death ?

It's a part of life. I don't fear it..though obviously prefer it doesn't happen anytime soon to me or my family members.

what you feel when you see any of your close friends or relatives died ?

Sadness, grief...same thing anyone else feels I guess.

what is your hope about the eternal life ??

I don't believe in it. Though if there is something after I'd like it to be a happy place.

What if God exists !!

Well, then I'm wrong.

Actually, I do understand that concept, though it seems that God -- if He exists -- isn't interested in convincing me of anything.

Ok, guys, that's enough picking on DT. From what I've read by him, he seems like he is on an honest quest to find his personal 'truth,' and that is more than I can say for a number of the doctrinaire chaps that go about CF (and life in general) looking to spread their memes (or in life, their genes), and never willing to open their mind.

Heh. Don't make me come back here and get all Classical on your behinds!

Oh, Danhalen, you've got me pegged on all accounts (well, not so much about the loss of limbs thing, but whatever). It was a pleasant argument for argument's sake.

Hey thats cool man if thats what you feel, as long as you have opened your mind and your heart, I can ask nothing more, it does not realy bother me what people belive in, as long as they are true to themselves.

Thanks man, I have alot of respect for people like you.
I hate it when people come to a PHILOSOPHY forum and think that they know it all, the perpose of philosophy is to make you think about things from every angle and with an open mind, its nice to know that some people can grasp this concept:thumbsup:

I see, do you care to back up that claim?

I just find your posts hilarious.

You have to admit you are asking for it, it had to happen sooner or later.

If you don't believe me go to a professional philosophy forum and post your ideas. One hint though don't use the name deep thinker.

Come back when you are a little more learned in the art of argueing philosophy. Before you make a bigger fool of yourself
