  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

yeah, they've got it here and there between wal-mart, target, and babies r us, but fisher price itself has discontinued it. I wish they hadn't, though, cause I really like all of it. We have the portable swing in the ocean wonders and it is great if you don't have a lot of space. That is what Justin sleeps in every night. You might look on Amazon, anyway...just because they give customer reviews on all the different products!

didn't use a bouncer with Robert.. had borrowed one from my sister, but he never really liked it... although there were times we put a pair of tennies in the dryer, and put his car seat on top and turned it on... that worked really well. he did not like the swing much either. my parent's bought him one... he got in it a couple times, but wasn't thrilled with it

Re diapers:

I will use cloth. They are better for the enviroment and cheaper too. They are also better for when they learn to potty train - you can generally get them to potty train earlier. With disposable they are so 'good' at traping the wetness that the baby never knows that they are wet.
You do get more nappy rash with the cloth ones though.

I can't advise on bouncy seats as my mom has one that she used for her children and my siblings have used it for theirs - she still has it so i'll use it for mine.

Not sure about the swinging ones - i think i'd just rather have a basic one as they are cheaper and it the baby need rocking i'll do it myself

The bouncer, for us, is alright. He loves it sometimes and hates it other times. I tell you what entertains him the most is the mobile in his crib. It has since the first day he came home. He will sit and stare at it for up to 20 minutes at a time...now that he is more developed, he just sits and coos and gagas to it as it goes around and around. It is the Ocean Wonders, too. I think Babies R Us may still carry it, that is where we got ours.

The swing has been a lifesaver for us, really. We swaddle Justin up and that is what he sleeps in every night. When he was smaller, he wouldn't sleep unless he was being rocked continually. So, every night, I rock him to sleep and then he goes to his swing and sleeps anywhere from 7-12 hours straight, swinging. I guess it really just depends on the baby.

I was planning to use cloth, but I received so many disposables as gifts that I got used to them, LOL! So, my son is in them and the new little one will probably be too. (At least my DD will be potty trained by the time the new one arrives!)

My daughter and son both loved the Aquarium bouncy seat that my mom has at her house. At home, my daughter prefered her swing, and my son his bouncy seat.

When they were older, they both LOVED the "johnny jump-ups". That's what my mom calls them, but I don't know what they are actually called. I don't have a good doorway to mount one in, and the free-standing one from fisher price takes up too much of my floor-space now that I have two kids. So, they just enjoy it at Grandma's. :)

If you do get a front-pack or a sling, get a good quality one! I got a very cheap front-pack for my DD and I couldn't use it because it was SO uncomfortable. I bit the bullet and bought a good one for my son, and it is SO much better! I can actually use it! Plus, it has held up well, and will be used for the next baby too. There are a lot of things you can save some money on, but it is worth it to pay extra for a good carrier/sling!

I've just ordered my front pack. Here's a link to it. http://www.wilkinet.co.uk/viewcarrier.asp?ProductRef=6

They are excellent - my sister had one and loved it and i used it and it was so easy to carry them in.

My H thinks it's expensive but if you have heard of babybjorn then they are cheaper than that and better
