I have a few questions. Not looking to debate, just looking for information. I decided to post each series of questions seperately.
That being said:

Questions Part 2: Bible

Do all Baptists believe the Bible is infallible? Literal word of God?
If yes, in the original languages only or in translations as well?


If you have anything to add I'd be interested in reading it. Again, I'm not looking to debate. You can guess my position on these issues by looking at my faith icon. I'm just curious. Peace.

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and as such contains no meaningful or doctrinal errors.

Yes, the Bible is the literal Word of God. As for the translations, some people believe that the King James Bible is the inerrant Word of God in the English language. Some people believe that only in the original languages is it inerrant. And the rest believe that it does have minor mistakes, but contains no meaningful or doctrinal errors.

There are two positions that most baptists ascribe to. The first called, infallibility, which means that all Scripture is faithful and accurate pertaining to matters of salvation. Secondly, Inerrancy. Inerrancy is the position that states that all facts, historical, scientific, archaeological, etc. are accurate and will stand up under scrutiny because if God carries the authors (2 Pe 1:20ff) then he will surely be able to communicate correct facts. We are the ones who misinterpret thus provide the errors.

I believe that the Word of God is inerrant and cannot hold contradictions. According to Psalms, the Word is tried seven times by fire and God holds His very Word above His own name.

As far as translations go, if someone read Greek and Hebrew I would urge them to read the original texts, but as for other translations, not just the KJV, they are accurate and still God's word.

Infallable? Definition:

1. Incapable of erring: an infallible guide; an infallible source of information.
2. Incapable of failing; certain: an infallible antidote; an infallible rule.

Obviously if we believe this is the word of God we believe that it has to be free from error. If read by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost it is and infallible guide, or an infalliable source of information. Where the trouble comes is when we do not use the Holy Ghost's promptings and read it without inspiration.

Jesus, in my opinion, is the literal Word of God.

Both, with the Hebrew and Greek being the best choice (an interlinear is good for that purpose)
