Questions on sanctification from a new believer

Hey, Phil. Yes, what many Christians would describe as "sanctification", I would equate as part of the salvation journey.

Are the children of God holy, consecrated, atoned for, set apart, and blessed? (All definitions of the word "sanctified")
Or are they unholy, unconsecrated, unatoned for, unset apart, and unblessed?
God's seed cannot bring forth the fruit of the devil.

You've got a choice to make, serve sin or serve God.
You can't serve both.

Phil, Our Apostle Paul in Romans 7: 21-25a described his wrestling with sin in PRESENT tense: "21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

John in 1 John 1:8-10 was speaking to fellow Christian believers and included himself with "we" speaking of sin after salvation claiming that the truth was not in someone if they claimed sin was not in them after salvation: "8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us."

I "bolded" two parts of your Rom 7 verses to illustrate that they are not present tense conditions but are a narrative of his past.
First, the "law of sin" in his members...It isn't present tense, because in Rom 8:2 it is written..."For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death."
Second, the "body of of this death"...(KJV)...It isn't present tense because Rom 6:6 had just accounted for it with..."Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin."
Rom 7 is a narrative of Paul's past, between his Rom 6 writings of the death of the man of flesh and Rom 8's walk in the Spirit instead of in the flesh.

1 John 1 addresses two different kinds of men, and their differing walks.
One "set" walks in the light, God, while the other "set" walks in the darkness, sin.
Verses 6, 8, & 10 are addressing those who walk in darkness/sin, not those walking in the light, God.
Verses 5, 7, and 9 are addressing those walking in the light, God.
There is no sin in God.

If we can never say we have no sin, then baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins is a lie. (Acts 2:38)
And verse 7 and 9 of 1 John would be lies too.
