  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How effective was Jesus at testifying of His messiahship?
I don't know. How effective was he? If he was less effective then the bible is at testifying against evolution does that change the definition of "effective" somehow?

I think it's harder to get away with playing connect-the-dots.
At least they have dots to connect.
My pastor thinks, as do I, that schools don't like the Bible because It is so effective in testifying against evolution.
What of all the Christians that do not think the bible testifies against the theory of evolution?

What about them?

If there were no Christians on earth, the Bible would still be eschewed in the schools for Its anti-evolution stance.

I find that doubtful since it is not currently eschewed in schools.

Except for all the Christian schools that teach evolution...

That'd be a little hard to do w/o Christians, dontcha think?
Yes, I phrased that poorly. I meant that the Bible certainly isn't being eschewed in Christian schools that teach evolution.

As long as It can be bent to fit the curriculum, I suppose so.

It doesn't need to be bent at all. Theistic evolution is pretty simple. Christianity and science are perfectly compatible.

I see no problem with it being the subject of a comparative religions class. It's not a science book, after all.

Beats me.

Somewhere along the line, schools began eschewing the Bible.

lol. You keep us in the lulz, as my children would say.
Somewhere along the line, schools began eschewing the Bible.
It would seem that you are equivocating the eschewing of the Bible with that of religion.

Oh ... I think I can come up with a difference between the Bible and religion.

And I can use gravity as an example too!
