I have been told repeatedly that I must display the adventist ICON (even though I have stated repeatedly that I am an adventist) in order to "debate" BUT I don't see that rule posted anywhere.... Can someone point me to it, OR have some people here been giving me grief over a rule that does not exist?

I posted where the rule was clarified but I'll post it again for you:

Post #34 in this thread (click here).

Thank you... noted for the record... this rule is NOT in the sticky's that head the page, but stated by the Moderator in a thread where the directive was given to stop debating.....

Noted for the record? Is there going to be a jury trial or something?

Rules are rules....can we all just follow them and make this a more pleasant environment?

I concur Never, but for some people that's just not possible. They have to "buck the system" or whatever you want to call it.

He asks where the rule is? I don't know, I have him on ignore, so I don't know what he said, but I do believe I remember one of the MODS themselves stating this rule to him, or a close faximile.

Naw no trial... I remember reading all the sticky's before I started posting and didn't see the rule in question... then was told later that it was a rule... so my thought was someone was making up "rules" as they went....

The moderator posted that rule in that thread because of your posts in that thread. You posted before and after the moderator made the post in that same thread; same page and everything. (just for the record, mind you)

You missed it... that rule is not in the 4 stickys at the top of the page. I read all of those before I made my first post. Then eventually you all made me aware of the ICON rule... that is what I am saying...

Somehow I got the impression the OP was directed at the Moderator. I am surprised at how legalistic we have become in this community of grace. The rules were enacted to preserve order, not to stifle debate.

The rule is the same for any Church group that has their own Forum.

Without the icon of the faith that the post is under then that person cannot debate, only ask questions and not come back and debate them.

We all know the rules now, so if we want to debate that is what one has to do.

I suppose if we are not happy with that then take it up with the Admin. at CF, we have no control over it at all.

The Mods only interfere when we complain. Sometimes we must; other times its something else.

You can keep your icon hidden. Which means only a moderator can see it.

Oh that's REAL good, then how are we supposed to know EVER if they are allowed to debate with us in here. LOL, that makes a LOT of sense. Why bother to have the rule at all then?

If one desires clarification direct contact with the monitors is useful.

The rules have been changed to include how the determination of SDA will be accomplished.

The judgment will be made by church icon on this forum.

If there is a question on a hidden icon please report the post to staff to investigate

Oh my goodness. I have said from the beginning about the "ICON" thing. If we as Christians want to fellowship/and or find out about their doctrines of another faith do we invite them to our church. No we go there and investigate. So you see if you want to come ask a question all is good. But disputing it then no way.

Thank you for revising the rules to include the display of the icon.

Some feel comfortable with rules, even those that may not make sense...

I guess it would have to first be determined if the rule makes sense - and in my humble opinion the icon rules does make perfect sense. How else can the members determine if the poster is SDA or not, a recognition that needs to be made quickly so that the CF rule of non-debate with other denominational members in a Congregation forum can be adhered too? It is incumbant upon the OP to identify themselves and the use of the denominational icon is the most reliable way.

That aside, the rules don't have to make sense. They only have to be clear and consistent. He who pays the piper calls the tune.

I have requested that my icon be changed since the rule has now been included in the rules listed in the stickys.... I disagree that a person can be identified with an icon.... as someone else pointed out, anyone can choose an icon just to make trouble if they are so inclined.... and some folks make trouble without one....
