  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why don't Mesianic Jews simply refer to themselves as Christians?

(Sorry about my duplicate post that I posted in the wrong place)

Do Christians believe the Law is still a covenantal obligation?

Do Christians keep Shabbat, and the Jewish holidays?

etc. etc. etc

Yes I do, Steve Petersen, but do you understand that I wish to stay well withing the rules of posting on MJ?
You can't post unless you are within this sites' Rules for Christians I guess. If you not Christian by their rules, you are restricted to the Atheist and Alternate Religion Threads. This is to keep the "riffraff" out.

Do Messianic Jews believe in the acceptance of the NT as scripture?

Do Messianic Jews accept the Christian tenets of Jesus as Messiah/Savior/G-d?

It seems they have much more in common than in differences.

There are many messianic Jews who do declare they are Christians and can be found in many denominations.
Are they still considered to be "Messianic Jews" if they are absorbed into the Christian churches and are no longer associated with anything remotely Jewish? Or are they more properly labeled "Christian" or "Jewish Christian"?

Many members here on the forum identify themselves as messianic Jews while pastoring and membershiping in other Christian congregations. They say that they still do in private the Jewishness of their faith.

Reformed Christian theology and doctrine is diametrically opposed to what Messianic Jews believe, and why most remain 'alongside' of Christianity rather than within. Most of Christianity is teaching that we leave our Jewishness to enter the church, who has replaced Israel with the Israel of God. Messianic Judaism has nothing in common with this theology what so ever. It remains a Judaism in light of our Jewish Messiah. Hence the division, but not the rejection of our common faiths.

There is a teaching technique which involves answering a question with a question. Do you get what I was asking in my first post?

Have you read the post directly above this post?
May we continue to interact within the rules that I am required to abide by......that being I can only ask questions?

You can invite us to post in a thread in an area of the forum, general theology, for example, where we both can post freely on any theological subject you want.

Isn't that a catch 22 though? If Messianics don't consider themselves to be Christian, they can't post in that area of the forum as it is limited to Christians only.

I wonder if we said it the other way, would the meaning be clearer, if Christians don't consider themselves Messianics, can they declare they are believers?
