For those of you who have full-time jobs in this area, how did you get them? I'm assuming many of you went to school for four years, but how would you advice someone who doesn't want to go that route?

I was thinking of saving up my money and joining Teen Challenge. That way I can sponsor myself and work while I'm in the program. The thing is, I don't have any addictions. Another thing is I take medication. I've heard they don't take people who are prescribed drugs for my kind of situation.

Lol, don't start an addiction to get the job!

There are jobs in social services that do not require degrees in ministry or social work. Salvation Army, VOA, Catholic Charities, denominational nursing homes, Samaritan' Purse, Christian colleges, camps, group homes.

They do not pay well, but would help you build connections and experience while getting some pay.

Check Christianjobs.com -- they also list youth and music ministry jobs.

Have you spoken to the leadership of the church you attend on avenues into full time ministry?

Try this - Become a missionary to America. Find 20 people who believe in your calling, and have them commit to $20 a week. That's $400 a week support for you in the ministry.
