  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So I have received many of the books that I ordered and have finished some. I have concluded the two books by Kasdan (God's Appointed Times and God's Appointed Customs). I have also received and enjoy the Complete Jewish Bible by Stern, as well as his New Testament Commentary. I am currently in the process of reading Marvin Wilson's Our Father Abraham and Lancaster's Restoration. Lancaster's book is easily one of my favorite books that I have ever read (and I am only half way finished); it will be highly recommended to friends and family.

I order Carmen Welker's Should Christians Be Torah Observant and I stopped reading it and decided to trade it back to amazon. The book is written with a rather insulting tone towards those who do not align with Welker's stance. Though I have found myself on the side of Torah Observance, I still found her book to be poorly written as far as argument goes. Furthermore, she does not affirm the personhood of the Ruach HaKodesh, nor the sonship of Yeshua. Finding her tone regarding these topics, I decided to research her after finalizing the trade-in with amazon. Needless to say, her "Refiner's Fire" ministry is way off the mark in my viewpoint.

So to give an update: I am still in the process of reading some of the books I ordered, and will continue to invest in more books (Dr. Moseley's book is next). I consider myself Torah Observant now and have found a new passion for the entirety of Scripture and Adonai.

I have been inactive on the boards as of late, partly due to my studies and being preoccupied in a Torah Observant chatroom. However, I do plan to become an active contributor to these forums once again.

Shalom!

Are you still going to CTOMC? I've been there a few times and didn't see you, guess we missed each other...
I really like Daniel Lancaster, and have never heard of the lady you spoke of. I never really have the money to purchase books and it's hard to find MJ books in the library.
Come on back to the forums. You're missed!!

Still going to CTOMC. I am usually there throughout the day periodically, as studies and priorities allow. This past Shabbat I was not in the chat; my family and I were in Tucson visiting my parents. I'm doing my first Torah reading on Wednesday.

I'll try to remember to join. I don't do readings anymore, COPD keeps getting worse and it makes it hard to read aloud. But I love the midweek Torah service. Will this be your first or did you make it last week? I think I'd fallen asleep last week and went in late.

This will be my third mid-week Torah service. However, having a two year old daughter who is quite active at this point in her life, I have yet to attend a mid-week Torah service and Shabbat service all the way through. Typically, at some point I have to leave to tend to her in some way, shape, or form.
