  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Alright, question #2:

How come so many people always talk about how loving and merciful God is but leave out all the rest like....God is just, and holy, and righteous? In today's modern world, you don't hear hardly anything about those characteristics of God. No, nowandays people wanna pick and choose what they consider the good stuff about Him and leave out all that talk about justice and HOLINESS. Yes, its not His desire for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. Its also true that only a corrupt judge would not punish crime. And we all know (or at least we should know) that God is in no way corrupt, so its a good thing He does judge sin, which leads me to believe that He's also trustworthy.

God even judges out of his Love, and he orders everything by his Love. we pick and choose and we distort because we are caught in the river of lies that spews from the dragons mouth. so we need eagle wings or we will not be well.

Question #3:

Why did God create hell for the devil and his angels and why are there people there now?
there are people in hades/sheol/the abyss and it is indeed a hell to them. but hell appears to be a different place. just like we can have a taste of heaven, we can also have a taste of hell but there is coming a more intense age(aion/long period of time) of it soon. there is also coming a new earth and a new heaven as well.

in 2 peter it says that certain fallen angels are in a place called tartarus, the word he said is tartaroō and it means "to thrust down to Tartarus, to hold captive in tartarus". this tartarus appears to be the deepest and worse part of sheol/the abyss

what do you mean by nonliving? and what do you mean by living?
By non-living I mean dead. No pulse, not breathing, no brain activity.
The place for these people is the grave.

By living I mean "has a pulse, breathes, and has brain activity."
The place for these is on the earth.

By living I also mean, "those Jesus Christ will resurrect from the grave." After Jesus gives life to these dead bodies, they will again be living.
The place for these is on the new earth that God recreates after the old one is burned away.

Thanks for asking!

ah I see now what you mean and it looks like we may disagree on certain things.

but I am sure you see that God has a path according to our free will and his will. indeed for the living and nonliving. what i mean by "living" are those that follow God and by "nonliving" i mean those that do not follow God.

Don't you believe that Jesus will return on the last day and call the dead forth from their graves? I thought this was Christianity 101, the belief all Christians (Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, Baptist) share.

Most manuscripts have ταρταρώσας (tartarosas).

Did Peter completely abandon his theology or was he speaking figuratively?

God has made all for His own sake (for His glory)

"God made all for His own sake,
even the wicked for the day of destruction (different translation: day of evil)"
-Proverbs 16:4

God is glorified in all of His acts. His grace and mercy being glorified in those He redeems and His justice in those who He condemns.

But His justice and mercy being most glorified in the cross, so that He would display Himself to be just, and the justifier (offering mercy) of the believer in Christ.

Hope this helps.

God bless,
--Ben

hmm I just thought that you maybe did not believe that souls still exist after death, since the bible says they do. maybe I thought wrong about what you think though. of course I believe in the resurrection and that Jesus is coming back!

Rev 6:9-11 (ESV)
(6:9) When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. (6:10) They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” (6:11) Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.

yes sir that is the exact word I was talking about. Strong's Greek Dictionary: 5020. tartaroó as you can see it appears 1 time in the NT. I do not know what the "ας" at the end of that word means, but it is to give a more specific meaning to the word according to the functioning of the rules of that language I suppose.

2Pet 2:9 (ESV)
(2:9) then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment,

that is said after he was talking about certain men who sinned and also of angels who sinned, so the angels that sinned are kept in a place. I would say that hades is a place as well as a state of the soul. and the same thing about heaven.
