  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hopefully this is sorta the right place to post this.....

I feel that God has called me to speak to people of my generation when I get older. Like the speakers at Acquire the Fire. But what type of education do I need to have in order to achieve my goal??? I really want to do this and I feel God does too. I just need some direction. Thanks!

I don't really have much experience with this, but check to see if your denomination has any sort of youth speakers program. I know the United Methodist Church does, but that is as far my knowledge on this goes.

In terms of general knowledge, be able to express yourself well. Knowledge, image, and verbal communication are important for all speakers.

best place to start is where you're at now. Talk with your youth leader to see if they'll let you do a lesson for one of the nights or let you share your heart with other teens. Maybe your town/city has a youth hang out place that you could voluenteer to help out at too? Right now you can also start reading books and things and even going to seminars and learning from them.

Educationally speaking, taking some public speaking classes and maybe some type of youth ministry classes, I'm sure would be very helpful in the direction you're going. There's great big variety of areas you can specialize in within youth ministries itself, and maybe along your journey you'll be able to find one that specifically captures your interest.

I don't know exactly how to get up to the status of becoming a teen/youth speaker, but I know if you start taking some of the steps now God will help lead you and prepare you. Wish I could help you more. God bless,

Wow dude. I'm totally right there next to you. I was recently called to Ministry on a youth trip with my Church. ( it was actually the beginning of July)

I've told my youth group about it and everything. I've been reading and understanding more about the Bible. I've realized that I want to discuss more about the Bible and I've realized that I can back it up better. This is all through the will of God. I can do nothing with out him. (some people might think I'm saying we have no free will, I'm not, we all have free will.)

sorry sorry sorry.

I don't mean to offend you. But I don't believe women should be teaching the Youth. 1 Timothy 2:9-15

Granted by todays standard, they are not yet "men." But in biblical times boys were men at the age of 12 or 13.

Don't hate me. I'm just going by what the bible says.

I wouldn't get too stuck on the type of education. Although it is important to know your bible, it's not the end-all-be-all. What's more important is to be willing to be used of God. For instance, my youth pastor has a backelor's degree in Construction Management (with no special bible training) yet he works full-time as a youth pastor in our church with a middle school youth group of 60-80 and a high school youth group of roughly 50 or so. Yes he knows the bible, but his education certainly wouldn't reflect that. Good luck in your journey!

I disagree with that I feel it was pertaining to a woman trying to have authority over the man

Plus it says teach which is a little different from preaching. If that was the case who come God sent two women to tell the disciplines about him not being in the tomb instead of two men. How come usually Co-pastors are women not men how come some pastors are women not men?

God is not looking with your gender but He is looking in your heart, your desire to serve Him makes you worth it. Not because of your gender. It was never an issue, because as long as you are used effectively by God in that aspect its all that matters

I'm in training process in speaking for the youth. and i'm a female too, but that doesnt hinder me from reaching this goal.

So, if you think its your calling to speak to the youth, then go..
But you have to pray real hard. Ask God to what His plans are really are. Ask directions.

I dont have a formal education myself, we are taught as a groupbut hey, yuth people are listening to us whenver we speak.

That's what i'm talking about.

You should pray for God's leading and perfect will for your ministry. I agree with what deeplyinluv states that God looks to the desire of your heart to follow all the way. And then He will be the one to guide and teach you of the work His going to do for you. Just abide in His Word and pray earnestly daily. You could enter a good Bible school or youth leadership training programs to gain knowledge of the ministry and the best thing is practice the work He had made for you. :) God bless!

A formal education isn't required from what I can tell in the Word. What does seem to be common is a spiritual father or like a mentor. Sometimes this can be more important than the classroom. Where did young Timothy go to school? His momma and grandma taught him then Paul was his spiritual father. Of course, if the Lord leads you to schooling then do it! It can be beneficial if the Lord sends ya!!! God bless you!

No instance of a women preacher in the New Testament.

A church who has a woman pastor or co-pastor is a church that does not take its doctrine seriously. Women are to teach other women. Not men.
