  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ok, a lot of people may think that it's way to early for me to consider this, but I'm going to post this anyway...

I'm at a point where we're being asked to make lots of decisions... At the moment I have to make choices for my A Levels (2 years of non-compulsory study, if you didn't know)
I already know that I would like to take Religious Studies, Psychology and French. Obviously the R.S course is the one I will be offered that will best equip me for the immediate future...

After this, I am going to take a year out and do youth work, as I feel this is my calling, before going to study at Bible college. The course offered at the college I am interested in is a 2 year course, which involves a chance to get practically involved in youth work during year 2.
The problem is, my parents aren't Christians and are unlikely to support me financially - the course will cost either £1,500 and £4,500; depending on whether I choose to be residential or not... (This is the main reason I'm thinking about it so much so early on)

Has anyone else been in a similar sort of situation? If so, how did you deal with it?

I really feel that this is the college I would like to go to, and am not sure whether this is something from me, or from God... Is there any way of testing this to be sure?

Yeah, try for financial aid either through scholarships or government. Both things can help a lot.

Also, since you are 16... just give this decision some time. If you decide between now and then you would like to do something else... well maybe this wasn't quite it for you.

One thing that I have learned in the last 4 years of College is that the we may still reach the same destination, but sometimes God has alternate routes for us that we didn't plan for. Some shorter, some longer. This has happened coutless times for me. lol Just be open for things to change.

While its definitely good to be thinking ahead long term, dont try to make all your decisions at once. I made who knows how many decisions before i came to college, but once i got here God took me on a path i never would have expected. What's that one quote, something about how God finds great amounts of humour in man's best laid plans (sorry i cant come up with the exact wording here...) I guess that general thought process also goes for when it comes to thinking about how youll pay for everything...once i got to college i found myself completely on my own paying out of state tuition, but God always provides. Keep praying and thinking about it, but dont forget to stop and enjoy the roses along the way
