Possibly because Satan knows the more people he helps turn away from God the more he hurts Him. Bad analogy, but like a sports game where the loser is obviously losing, but still tries to play in order to make themselves look better. Satan wants to be like the Most High.

Oh ok...

I am also wondering, what do demons do to Christians? I mean, Christians don't get demon possessed, but I knew someone who was trying to help someone become a Christian, so the Christian broke the person's idol, and than she was bothered by demons in weird ways. Why did that happen? Has anyone else have a similar experience?

Thanks!

Satan has no choice. "Satan" means adversary, accuser or prosecutor. Satan was created to take the role of "devil's advocate" in God's heavenly council.

Hello!

Are you saying that God made Satan to do evil and that he couldn't do good if he wanted to because God wants him to do evil? Would a good God want someone to do evil or make it so that someone cannot do good?

No. Look at Satan's role in Job. It is not necessarily evil, but it is adversarial and accusatory.

This might sound stupid, but why does Satan still try to oppose God when he knows that he will be defeated?
the first thing that popped into my mind is that Satan is NOT all knowing.
So, HE DON"T KNOW i guess.
But as far as your other question about demons. They can oppress us but cannot posses us if we are born again. I deal with these oppressions ALOT latley. My family is attacked often. I just pleade the blood of Jesus!
Are you feeling attacked?

I think @@Paul@@ said it best when he said he doesn't know why he still does it. We know we will be defeated, and yet even as Christians we occasionally still go against God. Before I became a Christian, I knew quite well that I was on the road to Hell, but I kept on for a while. But there are many who never turn, in spite of what they know. I think what it comes down to for people is simply refusing to care about anything but the here and now, and our own maximum temporary selfish benefit. With Satan, I think it is much the same.

God didn't create evil, he created man, and angels, with free will; namely, the ability to oppose Him, if we so desire. Satan did so desire. He wanted more than anything to over throw God. Which brings us back to your original point: why does Satan oppose God when he knows he'll lose... I think he knows he will loose, I mean after all the bible is here for us to read... I look at it and think, when you get in trouble for something when other people are involved also, you tend to drag them down with you, I'm thinking thats what Satan is doing...

To clear anything up just in case anything I said might have been taken out of context. I don't believe God created evil, because the Bible is clear saying that God is light and there is no darkness in Him and in the book of John it says that the darkness doesn't even understand God. Also it says that God doesn't ever make us sin.

But I think the devil knows full well of what's going to happen to him. I mean in all honesty he probably knows scripture better than we do. He tried to use scripture to tempt Jesus.

For many years I had an aunt who was a satanist. I can tell you from experience that satan CAN still bug us. Even the Bible says that we have to watch out for him because he is looking for ways to trip us up. satan hates it when his kingdom is threated because he thinks that if he can get Christians to deny Christ, it will cause other Christians to fall, too. They can't hurt us without God's permission, but they can make us mighty unhappy if they feel threatened.

I remember once reading that Moody said that if satan ain't bothering you, it's because you aren't doing anything to threaten him.

Is there a scripture that says Christians can't be possessed?

I wonder whether this might be implied in[bible]matthew 12:43-45[/bible]

I have heard this preached in that way, anyway. The unclean spirit cannot return if the Holy Spirit has taken up residence.
