  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well I don't attend UNCG but I did transfer this past year. I transferred from one four year university to another. My advice would be:

-See how many of your credits will transfer?
-How different the receiving school's degree plan is from your current one?
-Do they have scholarships specifically for transfer students?

I plan to transfer to another college for the fall 2007 and spring 2008 school year. I wanted to know if anyone transfered, how was your experience? and do you have any advice? Also is there anyone on here who attends UNCG?

I transferred...sort of. Back when I was in high school, I took all of my high school classes at the local community college, and got both high school and college credit (a lot of states have this program). So when I went to college after high school, I had to go through a few of the same procedures as transfer students, in order to get my credits to transfer.

My experience was pretty easy. All of my credits transferred without any difficulty, and this was likely because I went to another school in the same state. If you're moving from one state to another, you might have difficulty. I guess the only additional advice I can offer is that you should try to go to a school where you can get the largest number of credits to transfer.

I'm transferring this year to UNCC (doh! one letter off) Definitely see which classes transfer for whatever degree you're going for. I'm going for a BS in Civil Engineering, and they required that I have at least a 2.5 gpa and the classes that transfered had to be a C or higher. I'm currently at a NC Community College, so most classes have an equivalent at UNC.

does anyone know what its like transfering from small school to big school as far as social life goes?

There's a huge difference. When I went to a small CC, I was one of a few high school students among other students ranging from 18 to 40. Not that this is a bad thing; I even built friendships with some of the older people, and it was really interesting to talk to and work with them. At the CC, hanging out with the people closest to my age constituted sitting around on the third floor, doing homework, and debating philosophy. When I went to university, I tended to hang out with people outside of school a lot more, and I went to a lot more social get togethers.

That was my experience, anyway.
