Yes, though from my experience much of what passes for it is not real, but counterfeit. However, this does not mean that the real thing does not exist, just that it is more rare than it appears to be.

Of course we believe in it, the Bible teaches that it is an active part of the church. We believe the gift of tongues was used to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in lands where no one spoke the common language. We do not believe in the kind of tongues that is most often viewed in the churches today, for two reasons...1)because there is no usefulness of the gift in common day churches due to the fact that almost every language present is spoken by multiple people and can be recievers of the Gospel in their own tongues, and 2) because almost never present in today's church's when supposed tongues are being spoken is an interpreter as the Bible requires

1 Corinthians 14
27If anyone speaks in a tongue, two--or at the most three--should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and God.
29Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said. This is almost never done.

So, the answer to your question is yes, we believe that if God feels it necessary or useful for one to speak in tongues to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ then one will be endowed with the gift of speaking in tongues.

As far as prophecy, we believe that all that God intends for man to know is written in His Word and prophetic messages within His Holy Word can surely be revealed through His chosen recievers. We do not, however, believe that new revelations or prophecies are feasible, as we believe that God never changes. (examples of "prophecies we do not accept are the Book of Mormon, and the Quran) There are many out there that claim to be prophets but blatantly go against the Bible.

I hope this clarifies the beliefs of the Baptist Church.

There are some Baptists who believe in those gifts and others who are ceasationists. One of the beautiful things about Baptist life is its diversity in the nonessentials.
