  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Qualifications aside, I would just add that the presence of children in a family teaches a man....

1. Conflict resolution.
2. How to lead and mentor little ones who are not as developed as you are.
3. How to prepare people to survive when you are gone.

I think these are all qualities that would be helpful as an Elder.

I have another question: Why are elders not called pastors. Pastor is the proper greek term. It would be better if the Church of Christ got back to its, um, Greek roots :D
Pardon me, AJB4, but our church(es) are not only in our Greek roots but we are doing what the first century church(es) and Jesus taught us to do according to God's Word when He was on the Earth. Elders and pastors are the same thing. True pastors are not supposed to evangelize unless the preacher is absent or indisposed. They are supposed to oversee the flock (the congregation). I believe an elder can be an elder whether he is married or single. To repeat, "pastor" is the Greek word for "elder". Remember that! More later...
