  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You know how sometimes you can be asked to pray for the group? Well yeah, I am on my football team and I normally do the prayer for the team before the game. But lately I wonder why I pray in vain... I ask God for His blessing on the team, that we may focus and use our abilities as well as represent Him and our school well. But the team just kinda agrees that it is good, then goes to cussing and what have you about what is going on in the game. No one appears to be attempting to glorify God on the team, so I wonder... Does it do any good for me to ask God to bless a group that will not glorify Him?

Hi sbbqb7n16
You can never go wrong to ask God to glorify. I think it is wonderful what you are doing and you can never be so sure it is "in vain" someone just may be listening when you least expect it kiddo...asking for Gods blessings for your team is indeed important and although you are feeling like you are the only one getting anything out of it, one never truly knows the heart of another. You are a fine example to your peers...and take into consideration that many people are not comfortable praying publicly and they feel only comfortable with private prayer. I commend you for your act of prayer, and for caring about your team...keep it up! Kudos to you! I am praying for and with you and your team as well :)

BTW: Hows the season going?
take care and try to stay injury free
Prayers and blessings to you

Amie~

People have free will, your prayer will effect everyone different according to there relationship with God.
I think that God inspires them, but if they don't listen then it may seem like in vein.
But I don't think everyone on the team is cussing, look for the ones that seemed to have been touched or blessed and focus on that.
If we could force someones will, then we could pray for everyone to be saved, and God would force them, but we have freewill to choose God or not.

These guys are right! You never whose heart your prayer is touching. This may be the only time some of your teammates may be exposed to God. I think it is great that you are leading the prayer! Please, don't ever think that it is in vain. You never know how God may be working through it.
