Question on Exorcisms

Okay, I understand the basic premise behind exorcisms and see possession and demonic influences as entirely possible. However, it feels like there is not a legitimate modern case of it in public.

There are no specifics on how demons behave, what to look for in a person, etc. There is nothing to really expect in an exorcism case. I get a vibe, after reading multiple sources such as newadvent.org, that the whole thing goes as deep as...

People can be possessed. The Church can perform exorcisms to help them.

And that's it.

I just don't know what to think about them. It just feels superstitious to consider 99.9999999% of it as possible.

Glimpes of the Devil provides a psychiatrist's account of demonic possession. The author did not believe in possession until he encountered it in some of his clients, after mental illness had already been considered.

Peck is not a Christian fundamentalist but is merely an honest psychiatrist trying to investigate the topic of possession from a scientific perspective.

While I am not against the possibility of real life demonic possession, I am also open to the possibility that at least some of the demoniacs in the Gospels were actually sufferers of epilepsy and various mental disorders. Either way, Jesus cured them of whatever ailed them. This teaching about demonic possession in the Gospels is often taught in Catholic colleges.
