Question on Blessed Items

I remember in a prior thread (long, long ago) that an item that has been blessed remains blessed so long as it retains the things that make it the item. For example, if a string is cut on a scapular, unless it is repaired, it is no longer a scapular. Is this correct?
If it is, then would my rosary that I FINALLY took into a jeweler today no longer be blessed? We found out that it's missing 2 beads for one of the decades, and I honestly have no clue where they have gone to. Does this mean that, while I can still use it to prayer (just remember that that decade needs two extra Hail Mary's) it is no longer blessed? Could it get re-blessed?

My daughter tore her Rosary (that she got for her baptism) in two. My fault, I shouldn't have left it out where a toddler could get a hold of it. Anyway, I sent it off to Rosaries by Irene (which is in Ohio I think--found it on the 'net). Irene fixed it and it looks wonderful. You can't tell it was ever busted. She asked me to get it blessed again since it was repaired and I did. So, since she's been fixing Rosaries for a while, I took her word for it and got it blessed again.

FullyMT, I would say that the change in the rosary was substantial enough for it to lose its blessing with the loss of two beads.
I suggest that you have it repaired and blessed again.

You might have it conditionally blessed, just in case the first blessing never went away.

If a blessed item is no longer usable, it is appropriate to bury it our to burn it reverently.

This is really getting into smaller particulars of faith that cannot really be properly explained in full; just as the Real Presence is a mystery, so too essentially is the nature of blessings. I would just say, if there is any doubt, just get the object blessed again to be sure.

Paul, Davide is right that this is highly technical, and can become academic very quickly.
A rosary is composed of 59 beads, designed in a particular way. If something changes on the object so as to make it lose its character or substance, then its blessing is lost. The idea is that it was blessed as a rosary, and as long as it is a rosary, it will remain blessed. If it turns into something else, then it will lose its blessing.
