Can you see the Hebrew?

It is a Davka font called frankruhl. When I copy it for unicode I don't have any control over the output. I really don't like the way it looks but we seem to be a step closer.

יָֽלְדָה

Accents
Hebrew words are most often pronounced with the accent on the last syllable. When they are not we will show the accent mark with this symbol א֫.

אָ֫לֶף דָּ֫לֶת זַ֫יִן מֶ֫לֶךְ

just checking to see if I can pick up the marks I am looking for. This will not help anyone with their ability to type Hebrew, but it will enable me to copy and paste the lessons into a post (and everyone else to copy from mine).

checking something else:

אֱלֹהִ֑ים

אֱלֹהִ֑ים

אֱלֹהִ֑ים

אֱלֹהִ֑ים

אֱלֹהִ֑ים

These were done in 5 different fonts. Wanted to see if it made a difference in the output.

we can add a hebrew font easily enough for the students to type so this is looking good Deb:thumbsup:..let me know when you think the issue is fixed on your side and then rdale can PM the Tech Advisor and I about CFs needs to fix CF for the students:thumbsup:

I am encouraged and excited:clap:

They are looking the same to me, so I uploaded a screenie so that you can see what I see.

I believe what is happening is that the browser will use its default font if my system does not have the one you use. So, it won't look the same on my screen (or anyone else's) as yours... but it'll work. If CF had to get it's own copy of whatever font that you use, that would slow down the site (or at least whatever page that gets a request for the font to be downloaded).

I think that the main thing is, it's very readable in the present state. And useable. No problem copying and pasting the text, unless someone else sees and reports a problem.

Thanks for all your work on this project, it's very kind of you to share your time/effort!

Tish, hoping you see this. I don't know if there is anything else that needs to be done by the Tech Advisor/CF. I did request a "formatting" tweak, and if he is able to weld that in, it'll only get better... :). PMs on their way...

What I wound up doing was upgrading my Davka program to gain the ability to copy and paste unicode. It now gives me the ability to save a document in pdf directly from my Davka program. If I could put a PDF file up on this forum it would save all the formatting and it would be a snap for me

Did you look at Alphabet and Phonics 1? I did copy and paste that lesson into a post. If it is working for everybody then there will no longer be a need to publish anything in Google Docs and we can eliminate that step.

Hi Guys:hug:

Question.... do we still need a PDF?

Oh and Im getting excited and cant wait for our students to get buzy doing homework together and pouring over these threads again... I have gotten PMs from interested students too who absolutely love the material posted here.

Ive asked Rdale to make a thread explaining how to copy paste the work into their Student Notebooks, and / or any other threads once its ready, and I will sticky it, and link it to your class assignment thread too Deb:)

I still feel like Im moving thru the dark but I love and appreciate my guides, Debi B and Rdale( and the Techies too):hug::hug:

Can anyone see this Hebrew text? It is in SBL Hebrew font, Psalm 1:1a

The SBL Hebrew font is available here:

Download SBL Hebrew Font

As an experiment, can someone try and cut and paste the Hebrew text into your word processor? Does it appear as Hebrew or as something else?

If the SBL Hebrew font is installed, then the Hebrew should display fine; otherwise I think the Hebrew would just appear as boxes.

SBL Hebrew is a great font to do our work in. Starting with Vista, the release of Times New Roman and Arial are fully Hebrew-compliant, with corrections to vowel placement issues from the past and with a full set of cantillation marks. I've set Times New Roman as my default font here on CF. My Hebrew should always show up perfectly for anyone with the most up-to-date Times New Roman font. I will do my best to encode the more visual elements with SBL Hebrew.
