That seems more likely. Also, there is a Gospel concerning the life of the Virgin Mary, which is where most of the nativity stories take from as well as another Gospel that describes the life of Jesus as a child. Both were not included in canon though.

Anyway, have you seen the film The Nativity Story? In that film a 25 year old actor was chosen to play Joseph and a 15 year old actress was chosen to play Mary.

What ages were shown in the Catholic "The Passion" movie? I never saw it so I don't really know.

The film The Passion of the Christ deals with Jesus passion it has nothing to do with Jesus early life or his teachings (aside from a few flashbacks that feature the Eurachrist, Jesus saving Mary Magdeline(which is not accurate since the Church stated that Mary was not a prostitute) and Jesus as a carpenter). Mary looks like a women in her 50s at the time of the Crucifixion.

Anyway, the film begins with Jesus praying (just before being arrested) and in that scene we also see the Devil trying to convince Jesus not to continue with his plan. The devil is shown throughout the film lurking in the background mocking Jesus and making fun of the pain he is experiencing.

Since we're on The Passion, another inaccuracy is that it seems to portray Judas as having gone mad by the time he kills himself. IIRC, his hanging in the film wasn't so much of a suicide as an escape from some demon that was hounding him, or something along those line.

Which I suppose is possible, given that he had just betrayed his Lord. I haven't seen the movie in over three years even though we own it. I mean to watch it every Lenten season but I just can't bring myself to.

The statues were not made in the image of the Emperors though. Augustus died when he was about 76-81 years old and all his statues depicted him young.

Well, I suppose if there are Traditions from that time that were written down somewhere, there are pictures, maybe drawn on the catacomb walls. I'd like to think that images that we see now come from archaeological digs and the like. I've seen a facial reconstruction done on bones before, so I know it's possible.
