I had a question- I have a problem with meditating on the scripture, I do not know how to do it and when I try it does not work. I know the scripture says we have to meditate on the scripture day and night and that I have to do it but the only thing I can think of doing is just quoting scripture in my head over and over and over again every few seconds 24/7 so something bad does not happen. I did that 24/7 for many years and it fried my brain, I got brain damage but I feel that I have to do it or I will be sinning, something bad will happen. Also I think if I have to do this while I am at work I will probably get fired. What do you do to meditate on the scripture? I don't know what to do. Thanks!

Hey another question- it is true that the enemy can control you if you do not meditate on the scripture? I feel that I have to quote scripture in my head over and over and over again every few seconds so this does not happen. Thanks

It is simply " thinking" about it. It is not the Eastern practice of meditation where one repeats over and over. Hope this helps.
Blessings!

Try to enter into the narratives by identifying with the perspective of each character.

Scripture in excess can cause the flesh nature to go berserk, it does not like anything God-related.

Ensure adequate spiritual preparations are made if you are taking the route of inundating your mind with scripture.

I do what I consider a prayer meditation in that I pray the 2 great commandments ( Matthew 22:36-40), the golden rule ( Matthew 7:12), & for evangelism ( the “Lord of the harvest per Matthew 9:36-38). Usually I do this a few minutes a day like on a daily walk. Doing this while working is also useful but there is always music playing in the warehouse where I work ( which is obviously understandable). I also do janitorial work at our parish church & that gives me the chance to do this while working & the environment is obviously right. Still, I do this in small doses. You should take care in doing this and talk to a pastor you know for advice.

I pray in other basic ways of course.

"What is the difference between carnal mind and spiritual mind?

To be spiritually minded means we are continually giving our attention to the things of the spirit.

If we are carnally minded we are giving most of our attention to carnal things.

Whichever direction we are focusing our attention will determine how we see life.Jun 22, 2011"
