  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Blood tests...

It depends on the doctor as to whether they require a blood or pee test. Where I am currently, my PCM wouldn't give me a referral to the OB/GYN without a blood test. It doesn't take much to determine pregnancy.

After you get in with the OB (or whatever type health pro you use for pregnancy), they want 2 blood tests at least. 1 is done in the first trimester and my lab calls in the prenatal screening. It tests for blood count, several STDs, blood type, and German measels or something. I refused this for the last 2 pregnancies, but did get just the blood count on this one.
Later on they want to do a diabetes test (glucose tolerance). I also refused this on the last 3 pregnancies, including this one. Last pregnancy, I submitted to a finger prick glucose count at each visit.

I figure it this way; you hired the doc to perform a service to you. S/he is a professional and should give you good advice, but you are the boss and decide what services you actually want or don't want. They will give you a hard time, but they can't force you to do anything just because that's what they normally do. (From blood tests to sonongrams to rutine visits.)
