Question for the guys

I am looking for an old Christian college friend.
Looking at a specific church's website I see his name.

How terribly embarrassing would it be if I emailed his pastor?
Of course, I would tell pastor if he is now married to not pass on my email address.

We had connected back in 1993 and due to a bad zip code lost touch.
Lately I have been feeling like I wanted to make contact again.

I'd appreciate the thoughts from the guys - single and married. Thanks in advance.
I do not want to cause any trouble - just curious.

I don't think that you need to tell the pastor why you want to contact the guy. Just ask him to pass along your info to your old friend. Then the guy can decide whether to ignore it if he's married or respond if he's not. It would be more embarassing to have an old girlfriend trying to contact me through a pastor than just an old friend.
