• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don’t quite know how to start this off with out making it confusing. So ill just start where I think I should.

Why are Chrstians so close-minded and hate filled. I want so bad to be a Christian again but the people are so hatful and close-minded about everything, why would anyone want to be in a religion that spreads so much hate toward other people. When Christians are supposed to love everyone?

how are we Christ like if we plant bombs, kill, chanting hateful remarks and tell people there going to hell for loving someone...and doing this all under Jesus's name, Do you think if he was here today that he would be standing there with you in the frunt of the picket line screaming "I HATE ****!, BURN IN HELL!" ....No and do you know why?

Jesus loved everyone and we are support to be in his image.. Right? So then why are people so quick to judge someone for who they are?
And you can say that not all Christians are like that, that’s true but a high amount of them are. But those are the Christians that make this religion an embarrassment to be apart of.

please give me feed back Pro and aginst what has been said

You might very well enjoy this set of forums (General Apologetics, Philosophy and Morality, Liberal Theology) and a special forum for liberal Christians (Whosever Will, May Come).

Whosever Will, May Come is especially nice because it is a forum specifically for liberal Christians. DO feel welcome to join us!

I think you have been talking to the wrong people. I would personally recomend going around all the 'fun' forums on this site to see the good things about christians. Christianity is all about love although obviously, if you are atheist (or some belive other religions) then it could appear that it is not about love... although it is really!

ARGH! I have done that twice today! When I said that I wasn't actually implyin that you were atheist, I was just saying a general statement. Sorry if it came about like that.

Unfortunately a lot of what Sebjames says is true; many have been persecuted and killed under the hands of Christian followers. But don't lose sight that it was not and is not true Christianity that propels individuals to dispicable acts, but it is human sin and the detachment from God it causes. God has provided us one perfect example which to follow in that of Jesus Christ. It is not Jesus' shortcomings that have made and continue to make men commit such horrible acts and deeds, it is our own.

Wow! Thank you. That was a great way to put that.

Aww, welcome to CF! Not all Christians are hate filled, why on this board alone I've "met" some really loving, open minded, and AWESOME Christians who are anything but hate filled. These people make me proud to call myself Christian and be their friend.

It's just a shame when one of the founding members of that forum left because of his angst towards the whole mess.

Sebjames,

Here's the deal:

Christians aren't hateful. Neither are Jews, Muslims, Atheists, Wiccans, Buddhists or any other religious-label group of people.

People are hateful. Some of those people are Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists, Wiccans, Buddhists or any other religious-label group of people.

People are also loving and kind. Some of those people are Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists, Wiccans, Buddhists or any other religious-label group of people.

Some from all of those groups are healers and teachers who spread kindness and love. Some from all of those groups are terrorists who spread violence and hate. It's not about the group or the label. It's about the relative level of love or hate within the individual.

But those who are hateful, as Christ pointed out on the cross, know not what they do. They have lived a life of spiritual poverty, and should have our sympathies more than our contempt. (Although obviously in the case of terrorists they need to be seperated from society for the greater good of protecting society.)

My advice:

Find the people who are loving and kind, and make attachments with those people. Emulate their kindness, and the kindness of Jesus Himself. Be a good Samaritan. Walk the walk.

Find the people who are hateful, and forgive them, and try to teach them to be less so. Reach out with an open heart.

I don't know how this would be accomplished when the "terrorists" are a World Power and claim to be freedom fighters. But I guess that's another thread altogether.;)

You want to become a Christian again? I hope you don't switch back and forth between religions depending on what your mood is. I pray that when you do come to a knowledge of the truth that you will become an awesome follower of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ :)

Don't look to Christians as an example of what it means to be like Jesus. Look to Jesus instead :)

God bless ya!
