1- And [on account of] their saying: "We killed the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Messenger of God." They did not kill him and they did not crucify him, but it was made to seem so to them. Those who argue about him are in doubt about it. They have no real knowledge of it, just conjecture. But they certainly did not kill him.
(4:157)

2- No. We believe that the Qur'an is the verbatim word of God. Muhammad (pbuh) would recite the verses revealed to him, and his companions would memorize them and write them down. The verses were not revealed in the order that the Qur'aan is in now, rather they were revealed as events occurred during the lifetime of Muhammad (pbuh).

We are taught that:

- Repentance atones for sins.
- Asking for forgiveness and pardon can cover or atone for sin.
- Any pain, worry, sadness one experiences in this life atones for sins
- Good deeds atone for sin
- God multiplies the 'value' of good deeds, but does not for sin
- God gives us credit for good intentions, but does not hold us accountable for bad intentions unless we act upon them.

We are required to put in effort, but at the end of the day, even the most righteous enter Heaven through God's Mercy, for no man's deeds can earn it. We are the true benefactors in both this world and the next when we try to serve God and live according to His commands.

That's what I can think of now.. if you need Scriptural evidence for above points, I can look up when I have time.

I've always found it interesting (please correct me if I'm wrong) the attitude some Muslims have towards salvation. From my experience, it seems the Muslims I've met find the idea of a man dying to redeem mankind......very messed up.

In a way, I kind of understand this sentiment.

JJWhite, hello

Can you give some insight or explanation as to why small minority Muslim extremists want to kill and murder Christians in the middle east? . .

. .:sigh:

No one really knows.

Minority groups have always found someone who disliked them, couched in terms borrowed from the predominant culture (which includes religion).

Why do some people dislike the minority group? I suppose a psychologist could answer the question, but I am not a psychologist.
