  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Is the knowledge spoken of here the same type of knowledge ?

Isa 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

WOW! What an amazing question. The short answer is - Yes. The only significant difference is that Adam earned
his knowledge of sin (guilt) by personal choice and action. The grace of God's love found a way so Jesus (as man)
could live a perfect life in perfect fellowship with God yet be charged guilty and go to hell in our stead. He could feel
the devestation of sin to a depth not possible to any mortal. Sin, guilt, separation were totally foreign to Him. That
came to a screeching, horrible halt when our sin became His. By this He was perfected as our High Priest, our
Judge, our Intercessor. He knows the devestation, the waste of sin. He has incentive of horrible intensity and great
desire to steer us away from such loss. That is compounded by His deep love for us and desire to enjoy our
companionship on into eternity. His knowledge of the Genesis 3 disaster is deeper than even Adam could know.

Your question uncovers a brilliant foundation jewel of the Gospel.

Thank you!

Are the leaves then spoken of here the same leaves?

Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

Rev 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree
of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the
leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

OK. Let's look at some clues that can help us see how to rate the differences in the knowledge and leaves settings you bring up. We'll look at the knowledge first.

Context: Isaiah 53 is one of the best passages about the ministry of Christ. Look closely at verse 11. "BY His KNOWLEDGE My righteous Servant SHALL JUSTIFY MANY, FOR He shall BEAR their INIQUITIES." I will rephrase the implication of this as an observation to be drawn: In bearing their iniquities He gains the knowledge that enables Him to justify many. Having lived a perfect life He has knowledge of good. Having borne our iniquities He as abtained knowledge of evil. When Jesus obtained that knowledge of evil personally - it killed Him. Now if you if you look at Genesis 2:17 there seems to be a good fit in both verses with the knowledge of good and evil and the consequences.

Genesis 3:7 notes the leaves they used were FIG leaves. In context they were not in the vicinity of the tree of life, they were in the environment of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The tree of life indicated in Revelation 22 was for the healing of the nations. In Gen 3 they were not healed. In fact, let your eyes drop down to verses 22-24 you see that they were banned from access to the tree of life. They lost access due to disobedience. Let your eyes drop down to Revelation 22:14, "Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city." Through the justification Christ provides us and the recreative/redemptive work He does in us we are brought to a status of obedience which reinstates our right of access to the tree of life. The first 3 chapters of Genesis and the last 3 chapters of Revelation comprise perfect bookends around the history of sin. So the comparitive fit of the leaves in Gen 3:7 and Rev 22:2 fails.

I hope this helps and is not too dense.

The man, Adam is the covering of the woman. Like the covering of Moses' tabernacle ram (unclean) and badger (clean) dyed the color of Adam. This covering is the nakedness of the tree, "for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction" "the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified."

"Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." Christ is the Seed, Life of the woman.

Isa 6:13
... when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.

The first Adam was the (first) accuser. The last Adam shouldered the burden.
Joh 8:10-11 When Jesus had (and if I be), lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee ...
