first of all im reading catholicism for dummies, i just got done reading about the rosary and i knew about saying the prayers but the part about Mysteries confuses me

like when it says
  1. Announce the First Mystery; then say the "Our Father."
  2. Say ten "Hail Marys," while meditating on the Mystery
how do you do that? how do you meditate on something like that?

When I first wanted to really meditate while saying the Rosary, I found it very hard. My mind would wander, etc.

I then found a little booklet on the rosary at a local Catholic bookstore (around 50 cents). The booklet had some beautiful pictures in it fro each mystery. I would look at the picture and think about it. You know, like the Annunciation - I would think about how Mary felt, what she was seeing and hearing, etc. When my mind would start to wander, I would look back at the picture again!

It worked for me!

Maybe this would help :)

How to Pray the Rosary

click on the various 'mysteries' at the top.... and it gives particular things to 'meditate' on while praying the Hail Marys.

the way you do it, is you just reflect on the mystery and say the Hail Mary at the same time..

maybe it would help to read this book, that's online :) it really helped me.
THE SECRET OF THE ROSARY

I think the Rosary is a great prayer, and it's a powerful weapon too!

God bless:hug:

I'll meditate on a pertinent passage of scripture while reciting the Hail Mary's. For example, for the mystery of the Agony in the Garden, I'll reflect on the words of our Savior, "Father if at all possible let this cup pass by me, but not my will but Thy will be done." There's plenty of prayer cards which have these examples.

It takes some concentration to get the oral recitations and the silent meditations to work together, but when you do, it really gets you in touch with the life of Christ.

I almost asked that too. I feel like when I'm talking I can't also meditate but I haven't ever prayed it yet.
Yep. I used to feel the same way, but eventually I gave the rosary a shot and I discovered that I could do two things at the same time. :D

Now, when I say the Rosary it seems I rapidly get into a state where I can medidate on the life of Christ.

There's my problem! One can actually THINK WHILE Speaking. What a concept. :p LOL

This morning I woke up at 11 (kinda late I know) and I wasn't able to immediately speak and think. I was like talking but not saying what I thought I was saying.

So the question came to mind:
How long doesi t take for the brain to flip on all the switches? What I mean by switches is whatever things that control other things in my body. Like the brain helps the whole body function so I pretend that it does so with certain "on off" switches. I felt like my brain was still dreaming while I was wide awake haha. All I could think is "How come my words aren't coming out how I think them?" Poor brain wanted another hour I guess?

That is actually a great site, I found it shortly before reading this post, actually. I was getting distracted during the mysteries, but after looking at this site, I found myself meditating on the mysteries to the point where I forgot I was in the middle of prayer!

how do you do that? how do you meditate on something like that?

I have laminated chart that shows you how pray the Rosary.

I haven't quite figured how to properly pray the Rosary because because of the specific prayers ~ the Apostles Creed, the Our Father, the Salutation to the Queen" and number and sequences of the beads are all mixed up.
