  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Am I allowed to say that?
;-)

Thank you for carrying on such a civil conversation, by the way! You can't imagine how refreshing this is.

But yes.. issues with rage, hate, anger, and things along those lines, is something we as Christians should strive to overcome.. and hope to treat others as we ourselves would wish to be treated...

Which.. is a hard thing for many people to do...
Yes. When we look at statistics on the number of domestic abuse cases there are, this becomes a strained reality -- learning to know how far to let humility shape us.

There are certainly times when coffeemaking neglect turns into coffee theft, or poor hygiene turns into intentially infecting others (with chewed pencils?), and on. God doesn't ask us to be trampled and abused... just more self-restrained and generous.

Well I always took it as "Thou shall not kill".. there was no mention of "Thou shall not give a good swift kick in the pantaloons to those that need it"...

So I guess.. many people mistake being "Nice" with being a door mat.. and a Christian.. we arr allowed to "put you in your place"... and knock a few teeth out in the process if need be... we just are not supposed to kill you....

But I guess that might be some of my personal issues arising again...

God Bless

That should be Outreachs new motto: "We are allowed to put you in your place, but we aren't supposed to kill you!" Hahaha!

Dear Turtleopolis. You had some good replies, may I point out one more? God is Love, and he wants us to give up all selfishness, and become loving, and caring truly and selflessly. Jesus told us in 2 Commandments, which contain all 10 Commandments God gave us. Love God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind, also, love each other, as you love yourselves. Meaning: Never do, or say anything to anybody else, you would not want them to say, or do to you, or your loved ones. That is very hard, but with the help and Guidance of Jesus, it can be done. It will take a very long time, but we have many years to learn, as well as find it too hard, and have to ask and pray for forgiveness and for help. Jesus is our Intercessor, He pleads our prayers to God, and we will be forgiven many times, BUT we have to ask for it in our daily prayers. We ask, and we thank, and very often we fail. Then we ask again, never forget to thank, and will find, as we become more loving, compassionate and forgiving, that our lives are slowly, but gradually filled with Love, Joy and Peace. I say this humbly and lovingly, Turtleopolis, and send greetings. Emmy, sister in Christ. P.S. Many thousands of Christian men and women can, and will testify, to the truth of this.

These days, I find more brazen approaches, where believers seem to forget how immense God might possibly be. "Get me my stuff" -- like the Willy Wonka ticket holders.

Seen any giant blueberries yet?

Seriously, thanks to all of you for your wonderful answers. You've all been really helpful. I think that my original understanding of prayer was rather shallow; oversimplified on the one hand, and kind of just plain wrong on the other. So thanks to all of you for helping to clear things up.

I'll be back the next time I have a silly question.

Take care,

Honestly almost everyone I know has at least one co-worker that drives them nuts. Once I got my best friend a job and then I had to make up for all her slack...That's another story....but to answer you...
Sometimes and I know this is horrible but my friends and I would make up excuses for these people...
If a guy stinks, we'd say his shower was broken, or if a person was really mean, we'd say his dog must have died...just to bring it back to a a "normal" Level I guess. Makes you think about them as a person and that they may have something going on that's beyond you...

Perhaps Your McAnnoying is going through some really rough times and is seeking attention because he's lonely. Either way, Thinking something like I hope I get his office, isn't nearly as bad as if you said that to your boss and it happened.

Prayer helps....a lot...I work at a hotel and sometimes...well you can imagine what I might think... so I just do a lot of praying...
