So, if the charismatics/pentacostal are the most belivers who pray in tongues, why is it then that the most tongues speaker evengalist-preachers that we see , the famous ones struggle with pride, greed for money? If baptism of the holy spirit/tongues should make a shift. I also did pray tongues, I notice I get attacks, some stuff bubbles up, anger, lust. Why that is then? I also fund out that voodoo breasts do pray in tongues and other occults. Can you guys explain further? If devil doesn't want us to be build up. Why we see so much mess among preachers who speak tongues the most? Hours a day, and they seem to preach lot prosperity gospel, power, signs that they are mostly after, if that builds us up, wouldn't that be that it makes us more humble, seeking love instead worldly power, money etc? Wouldn't be that we have the opposite effect, becoming Christ like, not world like? Can someone explain why is that so?

Hello, any advice or opinion other than positive will get flagged on this forum. If possible, can you post in controversial? I too spoke in tongues upon conversation so I do have some insights but can't be open about it on this forum. Thanks !!

I would never say it's not authentic but I have questions.
Some people who attended a Charismatic Church convinced me that I had this gift, but I always wondered if it was authentic or I was just babbling.
I have seen people who are not that articulate or bright interpret tongues and speak eloquently and with confidence. That I thought was real.
I have also seen questionable things and unscrupulous con men who mascarade as evangelists.
I don't pray with a prayer language anymore because I have doubts about my own experience but I would never tell someone else what they should do concerning this gift.
I know that it is an authentic gift but there is also excess and questionable practices

In my opinion you really can't evaluate speaking in tongues based on some TV prosperity preacher. My experience based on having attended Pentecostal churches going back 40 years, is that's not the case with the average pastor or the congregation. My pastor for the last several years is nothing like that, nor was his father who was the pastor before him.

Unfortunately there's a lot of what's called "counterfeit christianity" and "counterfeit revival" out there. But if you look into a large organization like "The Assemblies of God" you're not going to find that and they've probably put out written material about it. The Pentecostals I know look unfavorably on "name it and claim it". One of my pastors from way back sarcastically called it "blab it and grab it".

I'd say in your personal experience, I'd say purging is a district possibility. And awareness too perhaps. I had to really be made aware of the sin in me to recognize it for what it was and turn away from it.

If those are the only ones you watch, then that is all you see and what forms your opinion. But I have been involved with the Charismatic first, and then the Pentecostal, for over 50 years. Not a single church, pastor, or ministry I have been involved with has been, as you describe: "struggle with pride, greed for money." We went to PTL a few times and were saddened by its demise. Overall, the ministers and churches across the land are as straight as an arrow.

But you asked for explanations, and there are many. So, I am going to respond as you asked.
Remember who the accuser of the breather is, and don't be deceived. If the devil is going to attack a church or minister, which one is he going to attack? The one one fire and doing the works of God or the lukewarm one? But you are making some severe judgments against your brothers and sisters here. How do you know the intent of the preachers? Do you have a superpower that sees the intents of their hearts? How can you tell if a miracle worker is sincere or not? What if he is, and you criticize and ridicule something that God is behind?

Remember that Jesus said there would be false prophets that sound and look just like the true. Don't be surprised if you happen to see a few. But do not throw out the baby with the bath water.

How do you know that non-Spirit-filled ministers and churches are any less corrupt? They do not get the attention the big names get, which is another answer to your question. If we were honest and did the research, I suspect there would be little difference. The weeds are sowed with the wheat, just as He said. You incorrectly link speaking in tongues and the gifts with "pride, greed for money." Humans are humans regardless of their manifestations. People who manifest gifts are just as human as any other. The gift does not only follow the holiness or the powerful. Even Peter said this after healing the lame man:

12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

Are we qualified to question what God does?

God uses earthen vessels. Why do we expect them to be perfect? But think about it. If God only used perfect vessels, there would be nobody doing the work. As much as we try, we are not perfect yet and will not be until the resurrection. That is me, Pastor Joe, and you too! Moses killed a man... he would be out. David committed fornication and had a man killed (he was called a man after God;s heart). He's gone. Peter denied Christ. He is definitely eliminated. And these are heroes of the faith. So, if you are looking for or expecting a perfect minister, you will be looking for a long time with no good results. You will end up very confused and disillusioned. I go by the love rule. Love gives people the benefit of the doubt. It does not assume the worst and evil of everyone. Do not listen to the world. They hate you just as much as they hate these ministers. If you are genuinely concerned for them, please get on your face before God and pray for them. More is required of them than lay people. They will be judged harsher.
Let me ask. Does your questioning come from doubt about the Charismatic and Pentecostal movements? If so, then you are not looking hard enough at others. If you choose to criticize ministries, churches, and even individual believers, take care not to judge yourself with the same judgment. Over the last 53 years as a Christian, I have learned not to expect more of others than I can do myself. Take care not to destroy the work of God while destroying the mere men He chooses to use.

I have been a WoF member since before it was called WoF. Back then (in the 1970s), it was called the "faith movement.
"Claim it" is a poor choice of words for what is being taught and done. It is simply acknowledging what God said and agreeing that it is ours. We are what He says we are, and we have what He says we have, and we can do what He says we can do.
If He said, "You are a new creature," then that is true. Nobody can deny it, and "claiming it" is meaningless if not harmful. You do not have to "claim" something that is already yours. It implies it is not yours until you "claim" that it is yours. No, it has been yours since Jesus was raised from the dead, and God said it was yours. It was yours before you were even born. The same is true with "making Jesus Lord of your life." There is the satanic suggestion that Jesus is not Lord until you "make" Him Lord. No. He is already Lord and has been since God made Him Lord. (Acts 2:36 "know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ." So there is the subtle suggestion He is not Lord. Not only is He lord now, but He is Lord of all (Act 10:36 "he is Lord of all"). They put the onus on you to somehow "make" Jesus Lord when you have neither the power nor authority to do so. We are not "claiming" Jesus is Lord or that "we are saved." We are simply acknowledging its reality. If you look at my icon, you will see that he is not asking for our permission. And He does not need it. We acknowledge what the Word says and siding with Him. WoF is nothing more than being aware of what the Word says and saying "OK! Then that is true to me!"

The filling of The Holy Spirit leads us into a more spiritual life, but we are still subject to the flesh at times if we are not drawing close to GOD. Being a Spirit led Christian does involve some work on our part. Holiness does not automatically happen for us, we have to apply ourselves to make it happen.

Yes thanks, iam just learning and worry to not be decieved by any fake, but now I do pray in tongues and I see whats that all about. I now rely on God and wisdom and I ask him straight, I try not to seek internet advice any longer.

Remember who the accuser of the breather is, and don't be deceived. If the devil is going to attack a church or minister, which one is he going to attack? The one one fire and doing the works of God or the lukewarm one? But you are making some severe judgments against your brothers and sisters here. How do you know the intent of the preachers? Do you have a superpower that sees the intents of their hearts? How can you tell if a miracle worker is sincere or not? What if he is, and you criticize and ridicule something that God is behind?

Remember that Jesus said there would be false prophets that sound and look just like the true. Don't be surprised if you happen to see a few. But do not throw out the baby with the bath water.

How do you know that non-Spirit-filled ministers and churches are any less corrupt? They do not get the attention the big names get, which is another answer to your question. If we were honest and did the research, I suspect there would be little difference. The weeds are sowed with the wheat, just as He said. You incorrectly link speaking in tongues and the gifts with "pride, greed for money." Humans are humans regardless of their manifestations. People who manifest gifts are just as human as any other. The gift does not only follow the holiness or the powerful. Even Peter said this after healing the lame man:

12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

Are we qualified to question what God does?

God uses earthen vessels. Why do we expect them to be perfect? But think about it. If God only used perfect vessels, there would be nobody doing the work. As much as we try, we are not perfect yet and will not be until the resurrection. That is me, Pastor Joe, and you too! Moses killed a man... he would be out. David committed fornication and had a man killed (he was called a man after God;s heart). He's gone. Peter denied Christ. He is definitely eliminated. And these are heroes of the faith. So, if you are looking for or expecting a perfect minister, you will be looking for a long time with no good results. You will end up very confused and disillusioned. I go by the love rule. Love gives people the benefit of the doubt. It does not assume the worst and evil of everyone. Do not listen to the world. They hate you just as much as they hate these ministers. If you are genuinely concerned for them, please get on your face before God and pray for them. More is required of them than lay people. They will be judged harsher.
Let me ask. Does your questioning come from doubt about the Charismatic and Pentecostal movements? If so, then you are not looking hard enough at others. If you choose to criticize ministries, churches, and even individual believers, take care not to judge yourself with the same judgment. Over the last 53 years as a Christian, I have learned not to expect more of others than I can do myself. Take care not to destroy the work of God while destroying the mere men He chooses to use.

I did not want to judge, it was just what I thought, satan also attack my mind at times to discourage me and to get me off track. I definitely understand that u said about the fact that Satan attack those who have great power by God, and who all walk with Lord. I AGREE!

I have been a WoF member since before it was called WoF. Back then (in the 1970s), it was called the "faith movement.
"Claim it" is a poor choice of words for what is being taught and done. It is simply acknowledging what God said and agreeing that it is ours. We are what He says we are, and we have what He says we have, and we can do what He says we can do.
If He said, "You are a new creature," then that is true. Nobody can deny it, and "claiming it" is meaningless if not harmful. You do not have to "claim" something that is already yours. It implies it is not yours until you "claim" that it is yours. No, it has been yours since Jesus was raised from the dead, and God said it was yours. It was yours before you were even born. The same is true with "making Jesus Lord of your life." There is the satanic suggestion that Jesus is not Lord until you "make" Him Lord. No. He is already Lord and has been since God made Him Lord. (Acts 2:36 "know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ." So there is the subtle suggestion He is not Lord. Not only is He lord now, but He is Lord of all (Act 10:36 "he is Lord of all"). They put the onus on you to somehow "make" Jesus Lord when you have neither the power nor authority to do so. We are not "claiming" Jesus is Lord or that "we are saved." We are simply acknowledging its reality. If you look at my icon, you will see that he is not asking for our permission. And He does not need it. We acknowledge what the Word says and siding with Him. WoF is nothing more than being aware of what the Word says and saying "OK! Then that is true to me!"

Since iam new Christian, I had lot questions and I was falling to these cessacionist videos I guess I got fooled, so they try to "proof" and tap kagainst miracles, but now I stopped all that YouTube videos and started to pray in tongues and worship past weeks and things move up and revelations happen.
