  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am a little confused on the whole setup of heaven and hell in the old testament. I have heard a few different things and am not sure what to believe so I wanted to ask a knowledgable christian on the subject.. I am confused because I learned that Jews don't believe in Hell as we know it in the New Testament. I've heard weird things come out of a Christians mouth on the subject. I am starting to think that the Old Testament left a grey area there.

So were the requirements for going to heaven the same back then? Faith in God and repentance? And was hell as it is today in the New Testament? And was there some kind of in between plane of existance that people waited at until Jesus defeated the Devil(i've heard this from a christian a long time ago)?

Any help and any verses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God bless.
