I've been looking for a while now about a topic. That topic would be how no matter how hard we try to make peace in the middle east that there will never be peace. I think it's in Genesis, but something about rebekah and that there can never be peace over there. Any help about this or what the verses are would be appreciated.

Okay, well then I have a question, why do presidents, even ones who quote they are christians, always seem to try and make peace over there. If peace is impossible and the bible tells us so, then why do they continue. I don't know how far back the presidents have been trying, but you'd think that they'd get a clue after how many years of failure. Anyway, I was thinking the particular verses were in Genesis, can't remember though, I'll try looking there. I understand what it's like to be a pastor looking for a particualr verse. Of course they have schooling but still, finding a single thing in the bible is hard. I want to know this for a bible study that my friends have during our parents bible study. We're discussing problems with the middle east, and thought that knowing about the peace conflict would be important.

Why do they try to make peace?

Because they haven't learnt it won't work yet. It's a hot political issue, and everyone is trying to make their name off it. The camp david talks took place in 2000, Clinton was trying to leave his legacy on the world for something other than the popularity of cigars.

Well, you are much too young to remember our last truly Christian president, the one who made more progress toward peace in the Middle East than anyone else. The fact is that God has called Christians to a ministry of reconciliation. Just because most Christians think evil will not be completely conquered until Christ returns doesn't mean we don't do what we can to restrain evil. Do you think we should refrain from doing good just because we know evil will continue to exist?

Christians or not, American presidents also have strong selfish motives for wanting peace in the Middle East, or at least not all-out large-scale war - a steady supply of oil.

If peace is impossible and the bible tells us so, then why do they continue. I don't know how far back the presidents have been trying, but you'd think that they'd get a clue after how many years of failure.

Have you ever thought about how much worse it might be, if not for their efforts? Admittedly, I think some have made mistakes there, but the ones who made the worst mistakes were the ones who went to war, not the ones who tried to help make peace.

Anyway, I was thinking the particular verses were in Genesis, can't remember though, I'll try looking there. I understand what it's like to be a pastor looking for a particualr verse. Keep looking. I don't think you'll find anything about this in Genesis, but I'm not quite sure what you're looking for. However, if there are scriptures that support your view, I'm sure some of the Dispensationalists will be able to point them out, if you ask them.

BTW, even many Dispensationalists think working for peace in the Middle East is worthwhile. Have you ever heard the phrase, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem"? The difference is that Dispensationalists are pro-Israel and tend to focus on Middle Eastern political matters more because they think modern political Israel is a subject of Bible prophecy. Most other Christians don't.

Nah, I think it can stay here it is doing good, and oops I forgot who posted above you sss, oh yeah Crazy Liz you they were a lot of help. So thanks guys, I'll just keep looking. I understand though now, why we are working towards peace, not to fulfill it, because I said I believe that is impossible, but we are working to keep it reduced to as minimal problem as we can. thanks
