Question about Baptist

One baptist said that the baptist denom is the true denomination because of John the "Baptist". As most people know, baptist means one who baptizes, and well that was Johns main job. But anyways, is this what most baptists really believe?

Nothing against Crispie but, Why do we keep getting this question. I'd swear this is at least the tenth time that someone has wandered in here and asked this.

I'll agree that the argument was tangential to this thread (Question for Baptists)... but that neither negates the argument nor does it amount to bashing. Refute the logic? Yes. Attack anybody? No.

Had I been in OBOB, I would readily agree with your assessment.

I don't flame-throw in OBOB. I also try to stay above vicious attacks not grounded in scripture. If my tone was inappropriate, then I apologize. I hope you are monitoring OBOB for us.



Perhaps you could ask Lifesaver to refrain from his use of the word "heresies" when referring to "Protestant" beliefs? (http://christianforums.com/t732360). Or perhaps you'll jump in there and demand that they stop saying the Holy Spirit will ONLY lead people TO the Catholic Church. Could you do that for me?

How about the statements there that anything that DOES NOT lead one to the Catholic Church must therefore not be of God? See to your own wounds before come in here pointing out mine.

I've never been a flame-thrower. Of the several times I've been reprimanded none of them came about because I went into someone else's room and started to "bash" anybody... they all came as a result of my responding to NON-BAPTISTS in the BAPTIST/ANABAPTIST forum...

I just hope he takes up my challenge and defends us in OBOB...

No. Baptists can tie their lineage back to the original church, parallel to that of the RCC according to many Baptist histories. I have not researched this because, frankly, it doesn't matter. If we continue to focus on the past to see who was first, then we will never go forward. The time spent looking backward should be to examine our errors and assure we do not repeat them.

Our focus should be on harmony between the different Christian groups and a refocus on the Bible versus man-made traditions and errors.
